Not sure if anyone is still interested in this thread but I thought I might post a little update.
I bought a grey leather split armrest off eBay for under 50 quid and recoloured it: H&R race springs bedding in a treat but showed I needed new rear shocks (fronts already done): These were oem and less than 90 quid a pair from Micks Garage on eBay. Easily fitted: New top shock absorber and shroud £7.98 a pair for Sachs branded off eBay. Definitely pays to shop around as prices vary widely! Been meaning to fit a dash cam for some time. Very impressed with this 1080p model for 60 quid: More to come.... Last edited by Calluhan; 04-21-2018 at 03:26 PM.. |

I read my TCU nearly a year ago for Clemens at XHP as my TCU was not supported. Clemens offered me a special deal to beta test but unfortunately I was about to set off to Oman so couldn't help.
A year later I finally got around to: Stage 3. Just perfect! |

I didn't remove it, despite the high (motorway) mileage everything is still in pretty good shape back there. In my case I foamed it, scrubbed it then jetwashed it down and left it to dry. Then I used a quality underbody sealer sprayed on. That was a couple if years ago and it's still holding up well now Last edited by Calluhan; 04-22-2018 at 02:45 AM.. |

Hi Rich. I bought all 3 and tried stage 2 first. Stage 2 is a massive improvement on the stock but stage 3 is a further improvement still for me. It's the speed of the shifts that really make the difference for me. It just takes off like a rocket through the gears now and everything feels seamless. I don't find it harsh at all and I can still pootle about in D. However, these TCUs vary quite widely it would seem and you may find a different experience. Hope that helps mate

Hi Andy. I'm no painting expert but the main thing I've learned is that preparation is the most important part. If you give decent quality paint a good key to bond to it normally lasts well. I use my MV4s in the winter now and the finish is still excellent I think mainly due to the PU lacquer I finish with.

So another little update. Got a bargain on these from eBay. Just plugged straight in to the door speaker. Makes a great cheap upgrade to the standard stereo system:
Also finally managed to source a gloss black rear vent, another bargain: |

Very impressed with my little camera. Image quality is excellent and it just works:
Had a little play with this today: I of course got my arse handed to me Latest updates to my tomtom go 6000 have finally made this an excellent sat nav. A crash and roadworks meant this gave me voice options of rerouted on my journey to the north Wales coast today. Very impressed with it now: Finally a 230 mile return journey averaging 80mph returned this: Very pleased with the old rocket..... Last edited by Calluhan; 05-02-2018 at 12:51 PM.. |

What did you type in to find that? Also how did you fit it? Does the door card need to be removed? |

I regularly searched eBay for e92 tweeters. Bidder on a few in the past but they all seemed to go for silly money. Finally got a bargain. Obviously no-one else was looking at the time! Yes the door card needs to be unscrewed and then popped off. The existing speakers have a small blue connector that they clip into. Dead easy |

Time to bid a fond farewell. I have sold the car to my son. He's only 21 but got a cracking deal through Admiral for insurance. I've now bought a 2014 640D. At 53 years old I thought it was time for an old man's car :-) I always look on here and enjoy reading the posts. I'll post more pictures if he does any more work to it ( but I get the feeling I will still be looking after it mechanically :-) All the best to you all
