Spacers making "flapping" sound?

hey guys recently i got a pair for 15mm H&R spacers for my rears (iforged). but when i go past like 25 mph. there's this "flapping noise" with the the metal or something

yes i used extended bolts. the guy i bought from has a e92 M3 and had no problem with it with his OEM wheels..

did i do something wrong?

i made sure all bolts are tight. wheels are all the way in.

well i put the spacer on my rim it doesn't seem like it's a tight fit like the rim with the OEM hubring. it seems wabbly. so would that be the problem?

Sounds like you might have a chamfer depth issue with the wheel and spacer. I would take them off as soon as you can before any damage occurs.

Once the spacers are removed, double check the length of the chamfer on the spacer and the depth of the chamfer on the hub ring. The hub rings are most likely not deep enough to accommodate the length of the spacers lip.

Nope, they're exactly the same. Only X6's and X5's (new ones) have different sized hubs.

The Lugs are probably to long and are rubbing the Emergency Brake!!! Remove and measure them before they destroy your e brake..

Glad you got that figured out. Same thing happened to this guy on E46fanatics...

Can you share the specs of the new shorter lugs you bought? I'm wondering if you could have just shaved down a few mm off the original lugs?

actually i took it to a shop and they machined it down (shaved it by 3 tread) no problem after..cost was a bitch. say i can buy 3 new set of lugs that's how much it cost. =/ but i wanted black lug nuts so yea.

well supposely i went to another shop they offered chrome ones they just added 15mm (my spacer size) + OEM lug size (currently on my aftermarket rims) i assume that'll work.

I'm glad i did some research before installing my Ichiban wheel adapters b/c it seems this is a common problem among E9X using spacers.

I had a similar problem with the lugs being so long that they actually forbade the car to move on. If I had accelerated I would have destroyed the brake! As soon as I noticed, after assembly, that the car could not proceed more than 10 inches I immediately stopped. I had the sensation that someone had inserted a staff between the spokes preventing the wheel from rolling. It was a dramatic moment!!!

Some days after shorter lugs were delivered by the seller and the problem was solved with no permanent damage.

I suggest you to check all the brakes, it is likely that some damages occurred!

Same thing happened to me when installing 5mm spacers with longer wheel bolts. Theres very little 'play' for wheel bolts on our cars. The springs for the e-brake assembly sit right behind the holes for the wheel lugs.
