Anyone purchase tire and wheel insurance recently?

I'm about to pickup my car next week, and the finance manager was asking $825 for 3 years of tire and rim insurance. She was only willing to take of $50. I told her that was ridiculous, and that I've seen reports of people paying much less. She told me that due to the high number of claims, the rates have increased recently. She admitted to me that they are having problems with the RFT's. It's fantastic how BWM acknowledges the problem, and then makes us pay extra to insure a defective product.

At any rate, has anyone purchased the tire and rim insurance within the past several months? If so, what did you pay, and how long was the coverage? I'm certain she's got more room to play with.

Thanks.

they quoted me $699 in jersey for $4000 in lifetime coverage. $999 for unlimited. think this is 4 yrs of coverage. from what i understand, each BMW uses a different insurance company at different rates - its a 3rd party carrier so i dont think you can really compare across dealers.

$499 actually sounds pretty good. I'd probably go for $499. When was this?

Just 5 weeks ago when I picked up the car.. My dealer is owned by Auto Nation now. I guess it probably is different between every dealership.

try this if you want a less costly alternitive, its a lower amount of coverage 350 tires / 350 wheels per occurance. 1400 total benefit for the year and it only costs $30 for the whole year. if you blow two tire/wheels it wont be enough coverage but you should cover most of it for one.
