What year is your car?
Most techs who specialize in BMWs after market electronics won't think twice about installing one. With nice features too. However, from what I've gathered is most seem to wait till factory warranty is up... Bummer cause I miss mine too.

My car is a 2011, and if it weren't for factory warranty paranoia I would have it done in an instant. However, I would ONLY use a tech who specializes in BMW's.
The guy I use is in Edison NJ, 6spdcoupe, of Unexpected Creations The remote start features out there today are pretty cool, like using ur iPhone or BB to operate the remote features. A competent tech would have no problem doing this, but I would stay far away from "consumer grade" installations.

How does it work with push to start? I'm guessing you can somehow bypass the brake feature?

The brake feature could be bypassed amazingly easy, with NCS Expert coding in about 3-4 minutes with an expirienced coder

this may be a dumb question but would you have to make sure your 6MT car is parked in neutral? I like putting my car in first gear along with the e-break on especially on steep slopes.

i have limited knowledge of this, except from the brief conversation with my installer... I believe they use a copy of your keyfob and its stashed / buried behind the dash in a transponder box so the car 'sees' your key and can initiate the start.
MT cars get a clutch bypass i think and have to be left in N. (IIRC) I have a 2011, i forgot the brand my tech sold at his shop but he had no hesitation installing it, he said its labor intensive and takes several hours, but when done properly its a non-event. I really like the feature that enabled you to start / stop the engine from your iphone. Really cool stuff. Im going to have it done but im gonna wait till the warranty is up.

Not overly difficult to do, we have done a few of em. Not cheap or quick, but absolutely possible !
