Rim Replacement - Bait-and-Switch?
As I think I posted weeks ago, I sustained a considerable hit to my front passenger tire on Valentine's Day. I'm running stock Sport rims for the E90 335 (18", model number - can't recall?). TPM alerted me, etc. Called BMW assist after my meal - "drive home and try to reinflate" - no dice. So I have them pick it up the next morning. A few hours later, the dealership calls, Tech #1, "your tire's fubar, but the rim looks fine. I'd probably recommend an alignment, too." Sounded fair enough and accurate, so I agreed. Weekend passes and phone rings on Monday - sweet, my car's ready. "Uh, hey, this is Tech #2. Yeah, umm, Tech #1 had forgot to mention your rim is fubar also, so you'll need to replace it as well." Wtf? Did #1 just eyeball it or what? His reply was kind of vague.
So, given I needed the car back asap, as it is my dd, I was cornered and got the repair. Well, I made sure to get the old rim back. Now granted, I could see them trying to balance the new tire/old rim combo and it just not acting right. However, eyeballing the old rim, I see no glaringly obvious deformities or cracks. I'm not an overly paranoid person, but a part of me feels I've been part of a bait-and-switch scenario. I'm planning on taking the rim to an independent shop and having it spun/tested. First of all, what do you all think of this situation? And second, if the independent shop does confirm my suspicion, what action would you take? Thanks.

once you spin it you'll know 100% whether its bent or not. Do yo have EZ care? or did you pay for the rim? If its not bent , which i doubt its not cuz bimmers rims are madd soft, go talk to the service manager and tell him the deal. All my rims are bent from simply driving down the road. Fuckin American infrastructure sucks dick. But it kinda worked to my advantage, cuz it gave me an excuse to order some new rims and tires, they'll be here tomorrow. Black Breyton gts
