oil change on 335i. Where do you get it?

Hi guys.

I am going to do my own oil change and filter change.

What should I run for my 335i, and where is the best place to buy it from?

Thanks lads

Forgive my ignorance.

What's ll04?

Do you buy online or pick it somewhere in London?
How many liters do I need?

I think you need 6.5 litres. I bought my last lot of Castrol Edge from EuroCarParts - £28.49 for 4 litres with free delivery (delivered in 2 days)

Josh, there's been several threads on this topic. FWIW I use Fuchs Titan Pro S 5W-40 for my 335i, sourced from Opie Oils, you need 6.5 litres and they supply oil filters too. The wise owls on the threads I refer to suggest that this oil is the one to get for the N54 engine (I think Mobil 1 is fine too).

Mike.

Sorry to hijack, but if supplying your own for BMW to use for an oil service - what should we be giving them (or rather, what do they use?)?

Castrol Edge 5W-30?

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-686-bmw-longlife-04.aspx - I used Fuchs Titan GT1 Pro C-3 last time. There's a similar oil called Titan GT1 Pro Flex, but apparently the main difference is that C-3 uses fully synthetic base stocks whereas Flex uses refined mineral oil (see here), so I think C-3 is a better bet.

Now that is cheap. With the 10%-off couponn you get 65GBP worth of Castrol Edge 5w-30, a free filter and free labour for 50GBP. The downsides are a non-OEM filter and having "variable" quality personnel working on your pride and joy.

I'd be tempted to buy an OEM filter, ask them to use it and offer them their filter back (to do what they want with) in exchange for watching the work.

Great price!!! But do you think the oil they use is long life?
Is that castors edge stuff ok to beat on your car with?

Otherwise the Fuchs stuff looks pretty good to me!

Wow that is a good deal. Good for a mid interval change. Wonder if they'll do 5w-40 too?

And yes that is ll04 oil. Cant beat that price.

Have a look at this

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=406804

I've used these guys 4 or 5 times now. I have always for some reason been quoted a cheaper price when I call in and ask for a quote (£45 last time - June 2012). Car has now done 137k miles (131k with me at the wheel) and seems to be going strong. I have never bothered providing OEM filter as Unipart has to be good enough.

National do use Castrol Edge LL04 Oil as prescribed by BMW
