e90 xi sedan koni/h&r sport - thinking of eibach rear??
Have had koni yellow with H&R sports for the last 6-7 months. The front is good but rear is just too low.
Outisde of going with KW's I am considering grabbing a set of Eibach springs and just doing the rears. I think they will sit higher than the H&R. Any thoughts on mixing them up? I need to get rid of this dumped rear! If I can spend $200 on some springs and solve the rake I'd be ecstatic!

Snagged a set of Eibach springs used on here. Gonna swap the rears and see if I can get rid of some of the dump I have in the rear. .
How difficult is it to swap rear springs in an e90? I'm hoping it is a quick job at a basic shop. |

easy job but have to kinda remove shock. Its straight forward. ECS has a great coilover installation video on how to remove/replace rear suspension.

Lot of Xi folks complaining the rear is too low on Eibachs as well. Read up in the Xi section, some pics there. Some of it is the rear wheels tucked-in look, which can be fixed with spacers. Some of it is the extra weight, some is the higher starting height, overall more drop on the XI using non XI Eibach springs both F&R. One guy finally said FI and swapped to OEM ZSP springs and liked that. The overall drop was more to his liking F&R. I also have Eibach Koni (+ 12/15mm spacers F/R) and am considering swap to OEM ZSP for winter. Drop is fine now but will fill up with snow very quickly.

When you say the rear is too low, do you mean compared to fronts? If it's the reverse rake that's bothering you, you can replace front perches and lower the front .5inch more to get rid of it

I like the front. The rear is simply too low. I've played around with different wheels/tires and spacers ....10, 12, 18 etc. I have read that H&R drop is lower than the Eibach...so I figure I might gain a little height in the rear. I have considered the ZSP rears as well. Since the option of swapping the rears looks fairly easy I figured I'd try the eibach and see if it brings it up any compared to the H&R sports. I am going to do it myself so the cost to me is $175 for a set of used eibachs. If that doesn't work out I will likely upgrade to KW V1 and throw in camber/caster plates and M3 bits/bushings. Trying to fix on the cheap but if that don't work I will just do it up and have a little BMW garage sale on here with all these parts I have laying around. |
