335d RDC module location?
I did a search and these seem to be all over the place: in the trunk near the battery (pre LCI I believe), under the car near the passenger rear tire (X3), and near the driver's side rear seat (E93).
Does anyone know where the RDC module is on the 335d? Thanks. |

RDC stands for "Reifen Druck Controlle" and translates to tire pressure monitor. In our 335d it's located in the rear right wheel well.
Looking to disable the RDC? |

Hey man. Actually I think mine got water logged after a rain storm so I wanted to take a look at it. I found it shortly after I had posted right in that location. I started to get the flashing instrument cluster/electrical malfunction warnings after the storm, but they've all cleared up since it's been dry, except the TPMS error.

I'm considering replacing with a used module but want to know what type of coding (if any) is required, specifically. |

bumping an old thread.
Did you just replace the RDC module or did you have to program it before install? Symptoms were TPMS malfunction while driving, then after a few minutes it disappears. Checked all tire sensors for a dead battery and found them in working condition. Next morning tried to start car and instrument panel goes crazy and it will not start. Keeping the brake depressed for a minute after pushing the button, car starts with massive amount of errors. Everything disabled on the dashboard - tpms, dsc, red lift warning. Use the scanner and get more than 50% of the modules with faults. The few that I reviewed pointed to the KCan Bus. tried to access the RDC module and could not get it to talk to the scanner. No communications. Only module that I found with errors that would not communicate. So I have narrowed this down to the RDC Module or the JBE Module (due to pin corrosion) that could be the problem with the KCan bus. When I reset the codes, I still get the TMPS inactive so I am going to replace this first. RealOEM shows the new part number as 36 10 6868194. Does this module need to be re-programmed before install? Thanks. |

I found mine in the passenger rear wheel well this past weekend while changing out my brake sensor.
Convenient location to get to it, but it is sitting in a great spot to get wet and sure enough, the connections are rusty and corroded. I was in a rush to get the brakes done, but I intend to try to get back in there and clean it up. Don't have high hopes that it will work again though. My hesitation to order and change it out myself has revolved around the horror stories about programming afterwards, but it sounds like you got away without having to do so. Did the light go away on its own or did it allow you to hit the reset in iDrive? |

Editing for accuracy: the new module did need coding. Additionally, used modules will need coding as well. The new module worked without coding, in the sense all the errors disappeared, EXCEPT for "TPMS malfunction" - it needed coding to remove that error. I had created a new thread here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1258367 Last edited by 9mmkungfu; 04-04-2023 at 08:59 AM.. Reason: Previously posted comment was inaccurate. |

I've done a bit of shopping, some prices look better than others. Can you tell me where you purchased yours (if you're comfortable doing so)? |

So I finally got around to replacing the module tonight, but still have the code. Guess I'll have to take it to my Indy for programming, my Foxwell NT 510 can't find it to reset/configure.
That's the least of my issues, I'm getting the fuel injector codes now . . . |

Probably should post in a different thread, but here goes:
459B - Smooth running controller, cylinder 5 4596 - Smooth running controller, cylinder 3 4B93 - DDE: Particulate filter system 3FF1 - DDE: Air mass flow sensor 4868 - DDE air system, air to EGR mass flow, plausibility 4687 - DDE: Throttle valve actuator 4B16 - DDE: Zero Quantity adaptation, injector, cylinder 5 4AF5 - DDE: Zero Quantity adaptation, injector cylinder 3 4C04 - Exhaust gas temperature sensor before cat, plausibility Currently at 101,500 miles, CBU was cleaned at 83,000 as well as both NOx sensors being changed out. Some of these codes are stored, and the CEL goes on and off. Usually comes on when it is hot/humid out. I will change the MAF sensor out first, as it is the original, but I know there are deeper issues. . . Car runs rough at start up, but actually still runs well at speed, accelerates strong, and mileage is upper 30s on the highway. |
