Tires that run "narrow"
I have been going through a few posts off and on and shooting ideas around with some friends about narrow tires and wondered if there was a definitive list?

+1 on this.
Are you trying to stretch some tires or just looking for a tire with a narrower side wall? Unfortunately there is no definite list because no one has the time to measure the actual 'real world' tire size from every single tire manufacturer both unmounted and mounted & inflated on every single wheel size that it may be used by a consumer. |

Toyo's and falken's are the worse for stretching because they run the narrowest offering less contact patch. If youre planning to not run lots of camber and trying to squeeze in a XXX width tire then you can opt for toyo/falkens due to narrow/rounded walls (which most ppl in here do).
If you visit other form>function sites, owners normally dont run T1r's or other expensive branded tires cause for one they're expensive which is not ideal for a stretch setup. Look for the wider brands such as, federals, generals, kumho, bridgestones, and handcocks.

Too me Falken fk452 doesn't really look narrow, at least not in 20".

A lot of people turn to the Toyo T1R when they want to stretch their tires but there are other choices out there that are pretty well established. Falken FK452s are popular as well. Hankook Ventus V12s look pretty nice when stretched but have a very soft sidewall, so I wouldn't recommend them for that purpose. Nitto NeoGens run pretty narrow as well and have relatively rounded shoulders, etc.
Achilles are pretty well known in the stretched tire world as well, but personally I'd opt for something else.

Yeah Achilles was tossed out in a conversation, I have never heard of them
I am sure my friend can get a couple different brands just have to see what will work out. (lucky for me summer only tires are needed) |
