BQ Tuning by WedgePerformance - 444.5 whp 508 wtq
So after my 11.9 and a bit more tuning, I decided to dyno my car. I have to say it feels much faster and super smooth, but I wanted to see first hand. So I called around town and the only dyno I could get on was a Dyno Dynamics. I have no clue if it's low or high, but from what I have seen online, a few compared it to a Mustang dyno, but I'm making no claims as to the % of difference. If anyone can find that information and post something I would appreciate the feedback.
Side note: You'll see in my logs that I have a throttle closure. Fortunately that issue is now fixed even though that was not causing any issues with regard to the performance of the car or at least it wasn't noticeable. Once I feel my car is dialed in, I'll return to the same dyno to get a comparison. Every day it seems we find something new as we are going through pushing the limits with our Advance COBB Tuning. Also, please note that I'm no longer running higher timing. After this dyno, I loaded a high timing map. I made 457.7 whp and 510 wtq. I personally don't see that as being a large enough gain to risk running higher timing considering we can control torque output much better through our Advanced COBB tuning rather than blindly throwing timing at the car to achieve the desired results. So what do I have? '07 E92 335i Sport AT on E50 COBB v3 - Best Tuning Platform hands down... Great power Ken. I dyno'd my own e50 tune yesterday with two different timing maps - one with 12 degrees peak and one with 13.5 degrees peak. Same map contour on both just taper to reach different peak values. Anyways, the 12 degree map made 4 whp and 8 wtq more after the being heat soaked with three 13.5 degree runs. It is just one data point but enough to convince me more is not always better.

awesome numbers, I'm in for some logs of multi gear pulls. If you can solve the timing drops for my protuned e50 6AT then you'll have another customer to your list.

We haven't done much with the N55 platform yet other than the PROcede with Meth, but we will. If you have a COBB and would like assistance with making your car perform better, let us know. I think you'll find that your car will actually make some really good numbers, we just need to find them. Won't be N54 numbers, but numbers you'll be very happy with.

We will strickly follow COBB's example model of max timing which is 13.5° of advance on E85 mix, and even that will sometimes have to be lowered "depending" on the power level that car is at, fuel availability, and mods. Some cars like it and other cars dont. No Two Cars Are The Same We STRONGLY recommend the COBB AP as it has the ability to monitor critically needed parameters in order to obtain acceptable power levels instead of "shooting in the dark" when tuning. |

Nice numbers, but hasn't it been known for a while anything over 14* isn't worth the risk for the power (if there is power even)...
Since you did a dyno dynamics(reads low) those values should be close to a new record. Try to get on a dynojet and see whats up.

However we tune it to yours specific car maxing out the turbo's "efficiency" so the only way to go is "down" most of the time. If you try to go up it will tell you right away no no. If the weather gets REALLy cold and you see a drop in boost then you can go up just a tiny bit Since two cars are never alike, if you try sharing the same map with another car there will be instability and limp issues and someone will be very unhappy The "SelfTuned" maps by us are not free so the end user needs to think about if they are going to try and share a map they paid for with someone else and risk the chance of getting limp. The difference between "SelfTuned" maps and "ProTuned" maps is one is locked and the other is not Also SelfTuners are not recognised or certified by COBB, ProTuner are recognised and certified by COBB Think of us as the Android guys Last edited by BQTuning; 10-17-2014 at 03:57 PM.. |
