I agree. Is it not similar for someone from another state in which it is legal to not have a front plate to drive into Illinois and now get a ticket?

Chicago does use home rule and over ride state law! I have recieved 2 tint tickets @ $250 each in the past few months. Both when my car was parked.

I will be bringing my car registered in Canada to Chicago within the next couple months as well. It will have Ontario plates on it.

I have about 35% tint up front... should this be an issue of concern for me?

they won't give you ticket if you don't have a IL plate.

Be sure to keep the Ontario plate as long as you can.

Going to chime in my .02. While i am happy the law finally changed, i think its stupid the way they have it set up. 35/35 but if you have darker than 35 in the rear you can only have 50 up front? what the hell is that about. It would make more sense to just say you can't have darker then 35 up front. Period. I'm still probably going to get mine tinted to 35/25.
