Waterpump for 335i, pricing gone crazy
My waterpump finally died, pretty scary died while driving on 41st ave. People are such a**holes, not letting me to the side of the road rather me just blocking a whole lane.
Been calling around, no one wants to do it under $1k, some even flat out refuse to do it because it's too time consuming for them. Got my friend's shop to do it, but damn, I remember asking autowest bmw last year and they were able to do it for $900 all in. Now parts alone is $900, even ECS tuning is that price. Dealers wanted $1400-1600. Also didn't help that shops are taking vacations this time. Just a rant, but have BMW parts in general gone up? I'm guessing it has to do with the dollar going down.

I'm scared of the next repair haha. I already had injectors done and that was not pretty.

Yeah, that's sh*tty. With these cars, I'm always worried about what will go next. Just replaced my Oil Filter Housing Gasket. While doing that I opted to Carbon Blast too as it both involves taking off the manifolds.

My oil filter housing gasket also needs replacing, that reminded me. Dealer wants $700 for it. How much did you have to pay?

I think it was around $960 + tax for my gasket change plus carbon blasting. If dealer quoted $700, you can probably get it cheaper at an indy as it is basically all labour. The parts only cost under $100.

Check new-part.com (although not sure about shipping to Canada). I recently got mine with bolts for 351$ shipped (usa).
http://www.new-part.com/product/bmw-...ts-11517632426 And also replace your thermostat, as if it fails later it is the same amount of work again. I think it is around $100. Last edited by litxus; 06-26-2015 at 03:55 PM.. |

Sorry to hear! I bought my water pump and thermostat from my SA (friend) at Park Shore for 400, but I remember the replacement kits at tischer, Bav Auto, and ECS being very similar. I just didn't want to deal with going to the border.
If you're up for it, there are a lot of resources for a DIY fix. I had never done it before, but I got it done. Make sure you get the right aluminum bolts, there are a few different part numbers that have different lengths. Good luck!! |

Just had mine done a few weeks ago. I had some funny stuff happening leading up to the pump failure. The week leading up to the failure the car had some severe hesitation in first and second gear after shifting and harder acceleration. It felt like real bad turbo lag. Once the pump was replaced the hesitation went away.
