2006 325i - odd noise during start, please help identify

Hello,

my 2006 325i is making an odd noise while cranking to start. can anyone help identify the sound? is this a starter about to crap out? video in link:

https://youtu.be/3sHw-lrtJE4

I had previously heard this sound in the winter when temperature was below freezing. Now I am hearing it all the time, even when hot (immediately after shutoff). SO I am assuming this is starter resistance I am hearing, and starter needs to be replaced.

Just hoping for some confirmation before I order the starter and undertake the job.

Thank you.

I have a new battery (the largest of the 3 options) that is only about 16 months old, so i am assuming battery is fine.

I would take the battery to get it test it before you do anything else. Take it to an Auto parts store, they tend to test batteries for free.
