I'm about to replace all 4 bearings and hubs on our E91 328 XDrive. I think there is an easier way to do it, I rented a hub/bearing removal and installation tool from O'Reilly's. No instructions but I found this great video.
https://youtu.be/oJeVzc21Yic I think most cars have common attachment method for bearing/hub/retainer ring/half-shafts/nut. Only part I'm worried about is; 1) being able to remove the rear half shafts. I don't want to undo any suspension parts, so I may un-bolt the axle from the differential. Only negative to doing this is that bolts may be single use. Any suggestions? 2) Front axle - should be able to remove bearing/hub on the vehicle with this tool but wondering how to get the axle out of the hub 3) 310 ft-lb, I don't have a torque wrench that high, so I may tighten to 200+ and drive to nearby shop then stake the nut. I'm going to attack this in few days so let's see....also, I'm replacing the brakes at the same time. Last edited by pbedrosi; 11-19-2022 at 11:31 PM.. Reason: spelling |
