Quick Update:

The car is now out of the bodyshop.... and in the service department.

Whilst they had it I asked them to look at a small rattle in the boot. Apparently they think they know what it is and are having to remove large sections of the rear trim to fix it. Why the hell they couldn't have done that whilst they were waiting fo the bumper to come in I don't know.

All being well they should be finished by the end of tomorrow so I can get it back on Wednesday as I'm not about to try inspecting the work in the dark.

Cheers Hotcoupe. Hope you've recovered from Quedgeley now.

Don't get me wrong the SE is a nice enough car... It's just that it's not as special as my car.

By strange coincidence I was following an 07DXB tonight. But it was only a Corsa.

I spoke too soon. More parts ordered to day for the rattle in the boot, so another day with the SE.

I thought those 'parts' were pretty easy to get hold of, Matt?!

All the best.

That's more like it Viv!

At least I'm not in the usual Mini or something tiny while it's being done, so I'm pretty calm about it. This 330d SE does seem to have traction issues though... and this little yellow light on the dash keeps winking at me!

Are the tyres Bridgestones, Matt?

The RE050A rubber compound certainly stiffens a lot at lower temps, reducing traction. The traction seems to drop at ambient temps below about 7C, to quite some extent, as that little yellow light keeps telling me, as well.

All the best.

The rears are Bridgestone RE050A, but the fronts are Pirelli Euforia.

I'm sure that the cold weather is playing a part. My own didn't feel as grippy in the negative temps a few weeks back, and I'm not quite as bothered about spinning these up at the mo'.

Certainly the slightly wet and greasy roads make it easy to spin the rears, and I can now confirm that provoked hard enough in a straight line the traction light is flashing away.

Full review of the MSport / SE differences to follow.....

Plus in breaking news, I had a message left on the 'phone whilst cruising hhome tonight (no BT in the SE) to say that my car is ready!
