Word has spread north that these are good kitchen gadgets, so going to get one, preferably nice and shiny. Any advice? do\'s and dont\'s? Thanks in advance.

These Nespresso machines are surprisingly really good, comparable to the automatic espresso machine i have at home. Make sure you get the optional frother "aeroccino"

I'm oop North too (well, if you count Harrogate). All of the machines are really well made and produce great quality coffee. There are sometimes promotions offering between £30-50 Nespresso credit depending on the machine you buy. This can be used to buy capsules, which you might find useful if you get through them at anything like the rate I do!

I've got the Citiz with the milk heating/whisking think.

It gets used more than I thought it would.

Shandy - how dare you!

It depends how you like your coffee. I'm a bit of a purist and don't particularly like the concept of 'bean-to-cup' or capsule delivery systems.

Freshly ground Illy beans through an espresso machine for me

I think that 'cupping' is a bit optimistic, don't you think. This implies a sufficent volume to fill my manly hands.

Fair play, but you're the only one of my mates that, with meat and veg in the laughing tackle, I can still sing the national anthem.

Best thing I ever bought.

Only downside is you can only order online if you don't have an Espresso store in your town.
They also work out quite pricey, I usually order around £50 a month, which is quite a lot to spend on coffee I guess, before I had it I probably spent no more than £10 every 2 months.

But worth it as it is just so easy and tastes as good as grinding yourself.

Great choice, did you get the one with that also does latte & cappuccino?

We've had ours for over two years, trouble is everywhere you go and have a coffee you'll be saying 'not as nice as ours is it!'

Expensive though, we currently spend around £80 a month on the capsules.

Yeah, just looked and I spent £52 on June 11th and another £52 on July 3rd and need to order again, so around £60 a month, and I am the only one that drinks coffee in our house.
