CD player: DVD compatible?

Somebody in another thread mentioned that the standard dash-mounted CD player can read DVDs. If this is true, I will be able to burn my entire collection of mp3s to one disk!

With IDrive, I have a DVD option when I select CD. I have post-Sept production, and can play dvd's with mp3s or wmas loaded on it.

in the CD player though? i know you can play MP3 DVDs once you take out the navigation disc off of the DVD drive. i really doubt they would put two DVD drives in there.

ya i tried it also, it only works in the nav slot. You need to make seperate folders inside of the dvd otherwise it doesnt work, i learned the hard way lol Oo also the song names and folder names can only have 8 letters max, again i learned this the hard way so good luck.

Unfortunately, if the cd player was going to play DVDs, it would be called a DVD player!

Can't understand why manufacturers don't install DVD-compatible players as standard, as they do on PCs nowadays. I mean, how much extra would it cost? $1? Then they could do away with CD changers all together.

Cars with Navigation have DVD Drives

Professional Nav ( standard in USA ) has
1)CD
2)DVD

Business nav has only 1 drive, its a DVD drive

Only they can play DVD Mp3's

The price difference between the CD Drive and DVD drive in the Pro Nav cars is about $400

Remember these drives have to withstand and operate in MUCH worse conditions than your normal PC drive would ever have to withstand
