I often wondered in this day and age, with everything in the cars being controlled by microchips, whey can't the cops just push a remote and disable a car they are chasing.

The technology is definitely there so what gives?

I actually thought about that too. They could just program a car to be stopped by a remote.

Actually, I did some research and there a few companies working on this. I am sure it will come out soon. It was interesting to read that one of the main potential clients pushing this research forward is LA County Sherrif Department.

The reason? ...Too many law suits resulting from death and injuries after car chases like this - including the ones from the families of the criminals responsible for the mayhem in the first place !!!!
