Since I'm in the ever-fun break-in period, the closest I'll get the smoking the tires on my 335i xDrive is to put lit smoke bombs the wheel wells.

(Children, do not do this at home. Adults, don't do it either.)

neutral drop that sh!t then. or some R n D's.

In all seriousness the answer to your question is no. Tires don't smoke/spin on xi's, it's kind of the point.

I know the feeling. You would love to roast 'em, but no real way.

(Purely in jest) If you had no regard for the warranty/the car you could always:

1- vishnu + open up the breathing + traction off + power brake it = even then, maybe...... ?
2- disconnect the front drive shaft and get the rears-only rolling. (just typing that makes me cringe)

Or, dog out a loaner...

Or, wait till it snows...

i am glad someone else said it. I thought this post would lead to a very public flogging but well that just goes to show what a nice bunch of dudes you* all are i guess
* don't count me in there I am a BDRS!.

hey on a related note, how do I get flames to come out of my tailpipes??

and oh yeah, wouldn't it be cool if there was a 3rd setting on the DST button that allowed you to disconnect the front transfer case just for this purpose?

If you got all 4 to smoke (not on snow/ice) then you would basically break the AWD system. Please don't attempt. The idea of AWD is to NOT lose traction.

while 4 wheel spin off the line is impossible, you can easily get it sideways burning all 4 and that is LOTS of fun

I have on several occasions. Think drag-strip. Best way to do it is find some nice, hot pavement (black top works well), and pour soapy some water on each tire and on the ground to act as lubricant (you dont need to but it will save some tire tread). Rev it up, 4k should do it, drop it and keep you right foot planted, left foot covering the brake.

You wont get the full cloud of smoke though as I think you are intending to unless you choose a specific tire type or seriously risk your transmission.
