buy a regular aux jack at radioshack
it's like 4 dollars for a short one and you'll need a non slip pad too because there's no play to put your ipod in the car so it kidna bounces around which is really annoying. If you ask one of the people there for an aux cable, they should know what you're talking about
also the ipod doesn't need any special setting to play so it's pretty much plug and play where you can adjust the volume on your ipod as well as your steering wheel

Make sure you get a stereo cable and not a mono cable. There were a few reports here of the AUX input not working when the E90 first came out, but it was just user error -- accidentally using a mono cable in the input.

You really should NOT use the headphone jack to connect your iPod to the AUX jack. Yeah it works but the quality is not as good as using the dock connector which has a level line output compared to the headphone jack which does not so you have to tinker with the volume and the output quality is low because it is meant to go to headphones and not play through a stereo system. You should be using something like this which will also charge your iPod and output the audio stream from the dock connector to the AUX jack.

its not that big of a difference. I use both the Monster and the direct Aux and there is little difference.

I've just got a Belkin cable, which plugs into the aux and the power. My ipod either sits in the armrest or just outside on top of my handbrake. Its great

I have used my IPOD in my E92 335 with both the headphone jack and a Sendstation PocketDock.
I can not hear any quality difference between the two.
BUT when using the headphone jack, make sure that you have the volume set to the max level. And remember to turn it back down when going back to the ear buds.

i cut a hole in the armrest rubber piece that pops out and ran the aux through there, in the center console and through a hole in the cubby spot (idrive knob area for no idrivers) keeps the cables clutter free and you dont see any cables coming out of the armrest

just get the monster from ebay, $12 and you get to charge the ipod and run the line in if you want to. I rarely use mine, only to charge the ipod
