I'll add my thoughts to this.
A similar thread about this appeared some time ago. Anyway...I have a Y registered AUC car and would have no problems buying another. They are usually highly spec'ed and whilst some may be ex demo, ex press car, etc, thorough inspections of the car are done before being sold into the UK dealer network. Furthermore, I actually visited BMW Thorne last week and was amazed at the attention and level of detail each used car (and new cars from Germany of course) is given. Ex press cars are given exceptionally levels of inspection. The Thorne bodyshop is much better than the average bodyshop in a dealership as well as the level of craftsmanship. Here's a very few selection of photos from the day: Bodyshop photos:

Raj, thanks for your reply and some good interesting photos. Good to hear that like me you aren't unduly concerned.
I think that providing the main dealers are honest with their customers and as I say the deal is right then why should there be an issue. Personally I feel that if I hadn't asked the right question then I don't think the dealer would have volunteered the information. |

I really don't see why it matters whether the car was ex rental or not as long as it is the correct price for the condition. Cars are designed to take abuse, to be driven in deserts, in the snow, on Britain's crappy pot riddled roads etc. A few angry rental drivers is not the end of the world. If an angry renter broke something then AUC should mean it was fixed before you bought it and it is under warranty any way.
Never believe what a salesman tells you and you won't ever get upset. |

I've hired a 420d and a 120d in recent months both with y plates. I've also seen plenty msport f30's at my local Enterprise
Saying that, can't be as bad as Land Rover - where cars that have been used on the 'land rover experience' end up on dealer for courts as 'ex management' cars. Avoid Silver RR and RRS that are only a few months old! |

For some reason I naively thought that you would never find such cars being sold as a BMW auc. Always best to go in with your eyes wide open and never make assumptions!
I personally would consider it to be it very dishonest if the dealer weren't to divulge such important information as a matter of course. |

By example, most Hertz vehicles in the UK are actually registered to Swift Vehicle Management. Even if you saw the V5C document you would not know that this was not just another ex lease car |
