Hello fellow members,

This if my first Thread where I log my cars progress. First off I've been a long time member and love to read other members build and see the love abs passion they have for there cars. I love to learn and read what issues people have with there cars and ways to redeem the issue or come up with a better solution for the community.

Well off to a little about my wagon this is me 3rd E91. My first was a 2011 E91 XI which I traded to buy an SUV for the wife and had wagon withdrawal since. A few month later I wanted a daily to put less miles on the M3 and found a 2006 E91 XI auto with 260,000 miles for 1,500 which was always dealer maintained. The wagon needed TLC but nothing I couldn't tackle on my own. After a few weeks a co-worker fell in love with the car and want to buy it off me, so it left me thinking?.. I started looking in the market place to see what was out there before I thought of selling the Wagon. And out of no where!!!! This E91 pop up! In Vermont private seller BSM on terra brown XI but the selling point was it's a original 6 speed manual!!! 167,000 miles. Good thing my Dad lives in Massachusetts so he drove up took a look at the car test drive it and it's all history from there.

It’s nothing but wagons after the first one.

Time for some sport seats and sport steering wheel.

Well that didn't take Long. The day I went to pick up the car. My Dad started the car in first gear and we know what happens SMH. I don't understand my dad has over 30 years of driving a Manuel car and it happened to him at this moment. His my dad no feeling hurt here. But his opened the door to great things too soon. Found a Black 2009 E91 in a local junk yard which hurt me to see. And took the opportunity to buy the Rear tailgate with tail lights, complete seats which door panels and center console and lots of interior bits!! Price was too good more like a steal.

Absolute find of an lci tailgate in the same color.
The tailgates on car part are dirt cheap.

The saddle brown is also a sweet color.

Sorry, but this made me laugh. When I saw the first pics my first thought was "don't leave it in gear!". Sorry it bit you, but glad it was only a bumper and not an entire engine.

Not an Update but did some Maintenance today. I started to get a bit of a rough idle it code at all. With 170,000 mile I knew the car will need some attention, but has been well taking care off. Today I changed the oil, cabin filter and also did the coils and plugs. Still got a rough idle sometimes so I have to dig deeper on the issues. Plus my OCD kick in on how dirty the engine bay way.

Sport steering wheel, old shift Knob I had laying around, and found this beautiful Diamond Black Interior Trim from Europe!

I’ve read the vanos solenoids could be the cause of the rough idle.
Does the idle go from smooth, then jump around a bit and then back to normal etc etc?
My old e91 did that. I cleaned the solenoids and new plugs. Never figured it out. LOL.

Is the trim gloss black? Or metallic?
Steering wheel trim for the win!

I get the ruff idle for a few seconds then goes away. I read that cleaning the vanos doesn't work guess I have to order two new ones. And yes the trim is metallic.

LCI Conversion Done. Temporary I have a used FRM2 from the junked wagon. I have yet to code it to my wagon has the reverse lights don't work since mine is a manual not auto. Any body know if I have to buy a new FRM and code it? I've been getting mixed answers that a used FRM can't be coded to a different car.

You can default code the frm to your car and it will register your VO and manual trans option to the frm and the lights should work.

Get the protools app and a kdcan cable and do it yourself.
The only reason I see it wouldn’t work would be different frm pins, but when frm modules are sold, no one ever mentions if its auto or mt so it should be fine.

Well it’s been a while but I started the rear end refresh. And I can say the rear controls arms were still original with 177,00 miles smh. Never buying a northern car again.
