Someone just hit my rear bumper

So I just got hit today and was wondering how I could upgrade to an mtech rear bumper now. Do I tell my insurance I want the Mtech bumper? Should I just get insurance money and buy the mtech bumper on my own? How does it work?

Seems pointless to comment since 10 others with first-hand experience will be in here in a minute, but the going experience is generally either they'll cover it if you choose the mtech bumper, or they'll let you simply pay the difference, which shouldn't be too much. Worst case, depending on jurisdiction you're likely legally entitled to take the value an appropriate third party quotes them for damage and spend it on your own towards the bumper.

JG mods has a good m tech rep ,http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=836480

How does your insurance do your payout? I've been on two different carriers, both just hand out a check and don't care what you do with them.. I would be surprised if the reps costed more than an OEM stock replacement so you might have cash left over for a diffuser

You will easily be able to afford the Mtech rep. and paint and install, compared to OEM bumper pricing.

The person that hit me has gieco and I have it too. I'm pretty sure I can get a check from them. I talked to JG mods and unfortunately he doesn't have any rear bumpers in stock and he told me to contact him Mid July to see if he has anything. I wanted to get this fixed asap, its kind of annoying.

I was going to order my rear from JG along with my front but they were out of stock at the time as well. I ended up getting my rear from MB. Fit is spot on, no problems.

Not many people consider Umnitza for bumpers, but I personally had a great experience buying one from them. Bought my mtech rear from them preprinted. Perfect paint and fitment. Ended up spending only around $700 since I installed it myself.

Some "preferred shops" won't change the bumper, but almost any shop that's not on the preferred list from the insurance company will. Also, just because they are preferred, does not mean they are better than other local places. Went through this with trying to put and RS4 bumper on my S4... Place would do it, but I couldn't get one to the states in a reasonable amount of time and every vendor was sold out.

Thanks man! I ordered a bumper painted and shipped for 705 total. I went with this option because the idiot that hit me didn't even have any insurance! I had to go through my own insurance and pay the 500 deductible. This was the best price I was getting for the bumper. I might need someone to install it unless the installing it relatively simple. Let me know if you used any DIY guide to install it?

No problem.
I used this video for the DIY.

Make sure you "slide" the bumper toward the back to remove the side tabs instead of pulling the bumper out to the side. Here is a post showing what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the the videos and advice! I will try this as soon as my bumper gets delivered from Umnitza!
