negotiating price on a 335i X-drive
Hi all,
I have plans to purchase an E90, 335i X-drive by the end of the month and I'm currently offered 500 above invoice on a fully loaded with M-sports package with an MSRP of 55K. The dealer's "supposedly" 500 above invoice is quoted at around 52K. According to my MY2009 Jan 1 pricing sheet, that's an over quote. Are the prices much higher now, or is the dealer just being uncool? I've read accounts of people getting above invoice and below invoice, but it seems very much like a case-by-case situation, which sounds reasonable. So if you all don't mind me asking, what is a reasonable deal in this economy? Thanks in advance. |

Sounds reasonable, if you base it off the right invoice price. Just bring the confidential pricing sheets from the forums with you and negotiate from there.
Good luck FM

As for the confidential pricing sheets, the only ones I was able to find are dated "effective Jan, 2009" and don't include the M-sports package pricing. Since I want to order one with the M-sports package, I am thinking maybe its unwise to present the outdated version of the pricing sheet. Are there more recent pricing sheets floating around? I tried searching but was unable to find one. Also, I have one dealer asking 500 above invoice pricing. Is it too much to ask for the $1840 off for the complementary x-drive with this deal? Quite honestly, I don't know in depth how the dealer works (how they make their profit, commission, etc), so I want want to be sure I'm getting a good price while not being unreasonable when I negotiate. I'm aware of edmunds prices, and I've been told that they are up to date.
Does anyone have access to the most recent pricing sheet? IMO, walking into the dealership with a hardcopy of those sheets will probably force the CA to get serious about pricing and not trying to play off edmunds.com as inaccurate. |
