Why does it even mention BMW? That incident had nothing to do with the fact that he was driving a BMW... If he was driving a Yugo, would they have mentioned that?

Thats my question every time someone posts a thread about an BMW accident, yeah its sad, but it doesn't matter if it was a bmw or a ford it's the driver that matters....

It's a basically a negative hit on BMW drivers in general, the BMW driver is evil, bent on speed and thrills and the mazda driver was a good, pure individual who would never do anything remotely similar to the BMW driver. I can't help but think Ford's PR machine had something to do with that article. After all Ford has a huge stake in Mazda.

Well this happens whenever something of status is involved. For example, whenever a professor at a major university, a doctor, or a lawyer is involved in something bad they will always point out. I just take it as a sign of respect.

Especially this one:

I'm afraid if BMW drivers were better than it wouldn't be such an issue. Do your own study... the majority of rude drivers going too fast, cutting in and out of lanes and not using their blinkers, are BMW drivers. However, I understood a bit when I finally drove one - they are really really fast.

or this one:

Why did the article mention that he was driving a BMW? We would have known that from the way he was driving.

or this one:

I wonder if this is the same quy who attempted to run me off the road, this jerk drove a silver bmw, he risked his life trying to ram my car from behind, in short, he wanted both lanes, usually when a motorist is making a left, turning merging into ongoing traffic, motorist we occupy the lane closet, their turning lane, not this guy he wanted my lane as well, he tried hard to ram my car from behind.

That person's ignorance is on display for all to see. Go ahead and conduct your own research. I do all the time. Even when factoring in the rarity of BMW's around here, I'm much more likely to see a testosterone-poisoned young male on a crotch rocket racing past me, an old beater or an uber-pickup cutting me off, and a soccer mom on her cell phone not using turn signals.

As for the stereotypes, I think hating BMW drivers because people believe they're rude, inconsiderate, and dangerous (things that no sane person would ever want to be) is just an immature coping strategy to deal with their own jealousy. If you can't have it, hate it.
