Should I break up with her? Kidding.

How can I fix this...scratch-x didn't really take it out.

touch up paint and sanding is your only reasonable choice

Upon further review - it's worse than I thought.

The door caught the bottom of the rear window, and scraped all the way up to the top where it caught the shark fin.

There's fine long vertical scratches in the rear window.

Any way to polish out window scratches?

If you can feel the scratch with your nail you cannot buff it out.

Bring it to a professional detailer who knows how to wet stand and polish using touch up paint.

OR

Go to a professional body shop to do it the right way.

Unfortunately, those are your only 2 options aside from leaving it alone.

Only way to know if you can polish out window is try using a machine, which brings me back to my original point, seek out a detailer. (I'm not talking about the guys at the car wash, but a professional who does "paint correction and high end detailing").

Unfortunately, I can.

I did come across a few sites that say Cerium Oxide can take scratches out of glass.

I think I'll just leave it until spring. What a bummer.

Good news on glass is that most car insurance has a zero deductible for glass replacement so just make a claim. It also won't impact your rates, this is one of those occasions where insurance is your friend.

awesome, you got the glass figured out but is it really worth changing? you are more than likely not going to get OEM.

My insurance doesn't have zero deductible on glass, so if I did claim it, it'd go to the dealer.

question is - is it worth claiming? I assume they'd have to respray the whole roof.

Maybe I'll try some Megs 205/105 to see what comes out and go from there.

I dont think it's worth getting new glass, the OEM fitment and quality is bar none from the factory. Any replacement no matter how good is never as good as the day it came out of the factory.

Be that as it may, if it's bad enough, then I would replace it. Definitely try polishing it out first.
