Time for a service??
Hi
My 19 month old 325i E90 has just cracked 20,000 KM's on the clock and no sign of the "service due" light coming on anytime soon. I have only ever had pit stops done and the most they have done is add oil or pumped up the tyres. Having only previously had cars that needed to be serviced every 10/15,000 KM's, I am not used to this "lotto" approach of waiting for the car to tell me when its number is up. Are you guys able to advise if I should just go ahead and arrange a full service or perhaps even just an engine oil change? Any idea of cost for those to be done...???? Or should I just wait and enjoy the savings the BMW brings to routine maintenance costs? Appreciate any advice you could give. |

I thought its normal for the CBS system to request an inspection after 12 months.
In my case, I'm changing the oil every 12 months so I'd get it checked out then. I doubt they even check much at an inspection. I'm guessing they check the diagnostics port for error codes and look at the oil and coolant levels - Probably no more than that. |

It costs $300 at a dealer because of $100 for oil, $20 filter, and about an hour of labour + whatever else.. My local dealer charges labour at $200 per hour. Its possible to get it done at an independant for less, but you need to watch out they are using fully synthetic (BMW approved LL01) oil, and a genuine BMW oil filter.
As for timing, I think 12months is pretty ideal, as long as your km is not crazy high. 19,000km is a bit long in my opinion. |

Fark!! I'm pretty sure the stealerships in qld would charge ~$500-600 for an oil change based on previous experiences with them. Highway robbery up here

Hi
Got the oil chnaged today for the first time and the Stealer did it for $280 as quoted including replacing the oil filter. I need to remember to get the next one done perhaps a bit earlier? Everything else on the car checked out OK so I'm happy.... |
