Honestly, if you don't like it don't get it. More for us, sucks to be you. End of conversation.

I fail to see the logic behind that but whatever floats your boat.

I dont like traction control on while im driving so i dont think that BMW should put it in their cars. Ill send them a message.

Anyone knows what is this dynavin product? http://www.dynavin.com/products/product_dnv_e9xm.php
they said it compatible with e90/e91/e92 from 2006-2011, but the dash layout is different.

Its for cars that have manual AC controls. From what i have gathered it is only foreign cars, not many in the USA have manual controls that i have seen.

us canadians with the 323i's have the manual controls. Don't think 328's and up have them.

Okay gents, I now have the D99 Android in my possession. Install is planned in Louisville with Roberts Electronics on Monday.

I have a 2011 335i Sport with base "BMW Professional" stereo, BMW Assist and Satellite radio. I will be doing a complete evaluation, review and pictures after the install. The plan for now is to relocate the factory head unit to the trunk so that I can retain the BMW Assist. Questions we will be answering during install and I will post:

1. Is relocating the factory head unit necessary to keep BMW Assist
2. Will we lose Satellite radio?
3. Can we locate iPod connector inside armrest

Following install, I have an appointment at my BMW dealer to confirm diagnostic communication is unhindered.

1. Yes
2. Yes, but you could grab an inexpensive plug and play Sirius radio and install it in the armrest or glovebox to be discreet and plug it into the aux input. No headunit controls but you would be able to listen to the programs you normally would.
3. Yes, that's where mine is.

are you stupid or you don't know how to read? I still like the product, but only downfall is the location of the screen. I just wished there was a solution that can mount the screen higher. When I first bought the car I thought I wouldn't need or want navigation so I didn't get it at the time. Plus are you a stupid child? "more for us"?? like really?? you act like these things are limited...

I had the d9x Android for a couple of weeks but I had to send it back because of some bugs that slipped through the cracks..but I understand that my unit was just a fluke. The issues I experienced were not normally seen with the latest units.
I did take advantage of the timing to grab a d99 unit and should see it later next week. During the process of the return/exchange, my company, who provides my cell phone/ data plan, decided to limit our data plans and swapped out our hotspots for dedicated aircards. Without access to data, I decided to go for the WinCE 6.0 platform since I can't take advantage of the great potential the Android platform has.
I'm in my car ALL the time and I can't stand cables, wires, gadgets etc.. laying all over the place. I've got one more year with my 07 before I give it to my son and buy an 09 330 coupe so I can take my d99 with me. (Sorry kid).

I got a little creative tonight with my ashtray button relocator and painted it flat black (first I had none, then I had the gloss black one) and did the little bar thing in silver like the oem one. It looks pretty good with all the other flat black stuff on my console, the dynavin, shift boot, storage cubby....

Its a bit of a bummer that I had to do the button relocation at all as I only have one button! Rear sunshade....but Im not giving up that feature here in the furnace that is California's central valley!

night pic is a little grainy but you get the idea....

I'm in Louisville, did a D90 in my E90 myself last year. You could of done it yourself. To be fair, I did work for a shop years ago (Ovation if you remember them) so I'm a former "pro", regardless I think this can be performed by anyone willing to execute a little patience. There's essentially no wiring to do since it's all harness based.

Someone else already answered your questions, but I'll add that if the iPod connector in the D99 works the same as the D90 units, you should buy the different connector that DynavinSolutions (Jeff) sells, as the stock one from Dynavin doesn't actually charge the iPod. I believe this connector needs a 12V tap.

Jeff,

In the original D90 thread I made this post, I think the Metra Heated Seat button relocation solution looks 100x better than the solution provided by Dynavin. Granted you lose the ashtray, but IMO is a non-issue if you don't smoke.

Quote:
2) I ordered the Metra seat-heater control switch mounting plate. I did not like the glossy look of the Dynavin piece. I believe this Metra piece looks 10x better, it's flat/matte, and has a far more OEM look. The part number is 98-9306 and can be seen here: http://www.metraonline.com/part/98-9306

I ended up ordering it on Amazon because not a lot of places showed stock. I'm sure you go special order it with any shop that deals with metra products, but it seemed easier to just Amazon it. Cost was about $40, seems steep for a piece of plastic, but worth it. It also comes with a new, longer cable for attaching the button strip to the main HVAC control unit, but I didn't bother installing.

The pocket is great for holding a smartphone (I have an iPhone 4). It's tilted up so that the screen points towards the drivers line of sight. Not that I looked at my phone much, but in the event that I received a call and didn't recognize the number from the D90s numerical display (since it didn't have address support) it was useful.

iPod charging is not an issue that I am aware of.....something odd must have been going on with your unit or your ipod steve.

I think you are right about the metra kit, that does look good, I may get one of those as well and try it out.

Looking at your pic.....looks like our interiors are pretty similar.... I forget, was it you that did the MS-8? I did it im my car and although it was tricky getting a good calibration result, in the end the sq is astounding!

Good luck!

I have to wait until tomorrow night to install mine, I ordered a 2011 climate control that has the heated seat buttons built in so I don't have the use the relocation piece. It's supposed to get here tomorrow. Maybe I'll install it at lunch!
