E92 stock head unit, trouble playing MP3s off of CDs?
I just bought a 2008 328 coupe with the stock sound system ("BMW Professional"). It works fine except when I try to play a CD with MP3s burned as mp3 files. In that case, about 1 in 10 times it will play them, the other 90% of the time it tries to read them for about 10 seconds, then says "CD error."
The same MP3 CDs play fine every time in my stock 2005 Scion tC head unit. Does anyone have any input on whether this is this a known problem with the unit, or is mine faulty? Thanks in advance.

Looking into media differences. I use CD-R will try a +R. My mp3s pause a lot and then keep going. I think its a memory issue and the different formats work different ways so well see. The dealer has no clue about this one. Also stated that they are not guaranteed against your own burned CDs. I told him that they dont sell MP3 cds. lol. he was like, Whuh?

I use the colored ones, so far I haven't had any issues with those, I think these are the same ones: http://www.memorex.com/en-us/Digital...-Pack-Blister/

It may not be your media but your actual MP3 files. I notice this is a problem for me too, some MP3s play, some others don't. The MP3s have to be encoded in a certain format. For example, it has to be 128-320kbps with a 44.1Khz sampling rate. Look here for more details.

Also some factory head units have issues with VBR - variable bit rate encoded MP3s, so I try to always use CBR - constant bit rate when ripping CDs.
Have fun |
