I had the same crop up recently. Most likely is that the pressure sensor in the ABS pump has failed, although i'm told if your lucky it could be a rear abs sensor.
Either way take it to BMW to get the diagnosis done. Try and punt for some goodwill and you might get the price down towards to £400/500 mark, but its not uncommon for it to be nearer to £600/700. Good luck! |

My Mums Mk5 Golf had the same problem, VW replaced it for FREE, no warranty, didn't even buy the car from VW dealer |

Two Warning Lights(yellow handbrake and DSC/DTC)
Hi all
New forum member....as you can tell Just purchased a 56 320d M Sport 30 days ago from a independent dealer with 6 months warranty I drove the car out the garage last night to be faced with what seems to be the ever popular two warning lights on the dash I have contacted John Clark BMW in Aberdeen who adivsed me that the hardbrake light in yellow is brake pads/discs need replacing, I dont know if this is correct With regards the DSC/DTC yellow warning light I was told this could be several things Does anyone have any idea if this would be covered in the 6 month warranty that I got from the dealership, I understand this is a random question but I need to be calmed down as I have read many posts about this problem and it seems to vary about cost and diagnosis The car has only done 30K miles Many thanks Dunc |

Have a look here. All this is in the manual but here is an online guide to some of the fault lights.
https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/d...90+E91+E92+E93 You will need to find out what the actual problem is and see how it works with your warranty. Some warranties hardly cover anything. After only 30 days I'd hope you would have some comeback with the dealer. |

Got it Fixed!!!
Returned the car to the dealership last thursday evening and got a call saying it was fixed the following day.
I was told the ABS/Traction Hydro Unit had failed and it needed replaced, of course this was covered in the warranty. Which i'm relieved at On the funny side of this I was given a Ford KA!!!!! as a courtesy car But all fixed now. Here is a picture of my Bimmer |

Can I please just check that if this needs to kick at all the light on the dash would come up?
Is it just the DTC dash light or is it the circle and triangle job that would flash when it is actually doing its stuff with regards to stability? Had the warning light for this come on once when driving home but turned off and turned on ignition again it had gone away and the car self check things said CHECK OK so though no more of it but since then I am sure I have never seen the activation light come on. Sure I chuck the car round the same way I used to and my self doubt is making me think the back is a bit more playful now but maybe it does not come that much anyhow and it is actually working ok? When I press the DTC button itself then the light comes on so I know that the bulb ain't gone for the DTC indicator, maybe it has for the circle/triangle one maybe? Basically would the warning symbol for this be on all the time if the unit had failed? |

ABS, Traction Control/DTC
Hey
Well the warning lights that I had were the permanent amber handbrake light and the triangle with counter clockwise arrow and exclamation mark The DTC light did come on at start but just went away as per normal function The BMW garage told me that it could be one of many things If yours just goes away after stop and then start it might just be a sensor |

Hi everyone! Think this is my 1st post!
Im just in the process of trading in my mazda 3 mps for an e92 335i se, and 4 days ago my mazda suffered the same abs/dsc pump malfunction. Its all a bit of a scandal, millions of cars have been fitted with a similar dsc/abs control unit, and 1 or 2 components WILL fail. VW groups cars, mazdas, and bmw's all have a related part, and thats why we see these failures. Hope it helps someone, but if you dont want to pay crazy dealer prices for a) a new unit - £1000-1500 b) a fix-it dealer kit (VW and mazda has these, dont know about BM) - £600 there are a few companies who now specialise in replacing the failed component. The two i know of are ecu-testing and bba-reman.... think they charge about £150-£250 for the repair! Hope that helps! Nigel |

Had a tyre replaced back in Feb so could be a loose sensor but like I say it has not come on since back in March when the warning showed up.
Surely the warning would be on all the time if there was a problem? |

Yeah,
I had two permanent amber lights, which are more of a serious issue. I know it wont be cheap but for peace of mind take it to a local BMW dealer and have them look at it, if you feel its bugging you. From memory I was quoted £40 just to diagnose the fault. |

OK so it turns out my issue is the same also! Indy has confirmed that the problem is the ABS module and can be sorted with a "ABS Block" which he described as the mechanical side of the module, not the electronic side.
So I spoke to Sandals in Huddersfield and JCT600 in Bradford and both are quoting 185 for the part. Indy wants 100 for labor. The one thing I don't understand is whats the difference between those who have the DTC light (Triangle with arrow) and the Handbrake light and those who just have the DTC light? (I just have the DTC light, not the handbrake light) And am I right in thinking that this Hydro repair kit is just a straight swap out? I don't understand how you can swap the module with this? It must be an extra thing they put in the car then?? Thanks

Hey I had the same problem at 70k and my local indy replaced for £450, I has both lights on. Took it in and he said seen lots of these coming in and knew exactly what the problem was. For those of you in Leeds if you have the same problem b and m care in pudsey is where I took it, great Indy they are.

Well here's a strange turn of events. Bought my part this morning, took it to the Indy who replaced the part but now instead of having a faulty sensor error he is getting a faulty pump error. He's convinced that the part is faulty.
So I spoke to BMW and I am currently sat in the dealers waiting area while they take a look at the car. If theybagree the part is faulty it is changed foc otherwise I have to lay the diagnostic fee of an hours labor I also paid the Indy 100 in labor and 185 for the part originally. Hope it works out!!!!

Well Sandals in Huddersfield have checked it out and confirmed that the new part I bought from JCT600 was faulty and they will replace it free of charge under warranty tomorrow morning
Happy bunny !

Hi All,
Sorry for the bump. Just got back from my BMW St..sorry Dealer after getting the ABS icon, and the 3 yellow lights up on the dash 2 days ago. 3 out of 4 times I turn the car on and drive, I get these lights, but 1 out of 4, I don't. I took it in, and paid £65 for them to tell me that the DCS unit was on its way out, and the whole lot needed replacing for a princely sum of £1995 inc VAT. As I've only had it from them for 18 months (stupidly didn't extend the warranty....) they are going to speak to BMW and see if they can get some goodwill discount from them, not very hopeful though if I chose not to take the warranty. Seen a few suggest it isn't actually the DCS and possibly a mis-reading, but now sure how to get another opinion on this? Any help or advice appreciated, as obviously keen not to spend out £2k. I do know a good private BMW technician, but I thought I'd see what BMW come back with first. Thanks all! EDIT: Forgot to say, they did say on a lot of E92s, apparently they can replace part of it for much less, but on mine, it is all in 1 unit hence the full £2k.... Update from BMW, they are happy to cover 80% of the parts, meaning this will cost £660. A 'bit' happier with this, but still feeling a bit shafted! Appreciate any thoughts on this.
