Quick question for anyone with experience at Maranello BMW...
hey guys.
so my HPFP crapped out on Friday night. at least, that's what i'm pretty sure it is based on the symptoms...half-engine light, check engine light, reduced power, longer crank time at start-up...from what i've read, these signs all point to HPFP. i've been meaning to take the car in since i got it for a once-over and make sure all recalls were done; however, life caught up with me and i simply haven't had time, so i guess i got what i deserve! i've had a lot of experience with Maranello with my last E90. took the car into them a few times for work, WITH my JB3 in the car, and they never said anything about it...however, the car was already out of warranty when this work was done and it wasn't recall-related so this might be why. i'm just curious if i should remove the JB3 before taking it in tomorrow for the HPFP. i don't want any headaches or troubles, but i've heard some dealerships can be mod-friendly, so i'm just curious. i'm still under warranty as well. not like it's a huge hassle to disconnect, but if it won't be a problem, i'll just leave it. any input is appreciated!

The mod directly effects the engine and you're are bringing your car in for engine related work, seems like a no brainer to me. Swap it out!

Based on my experience with them, they seem to be pretty "by the book" when it comes to warranty work. For example, I've heard of dealers doing the lifter tick work for N52s as long as you said you heard it or show a video of it while they said they needed to actually hear the issue in order to do the work even though they are aware of the issue. To be fair though, they also covered my O2 sensor replacement because according to the warranty administrator it was covered by the CPO warranty even though the CPO pamphlet that lists what is covered doesn't list it as a covered sensor.
If it isn't hard to remove, I'd just do it to avoid the hassle. |
