Oil Cooler

Hi,
I am new to the forum, but I have read through hundreds of threads. I'm buying a 2007 335xi and I was wondering if anyone knew how expensive it is to buy an oil cooler? Since the car I'm looking at has every option except the sport package (crazy I know). Would I be better off getting an aftermarket one even thought the cheapest that I have found is $1,000! How much does BMW charge for a stock one?!
Thanks

Welcome to the forums

I don't know how much it would cost, but I would search the forums as you can probably buy an upgraded one to start with...

but on the other hand, my 2007 335i does not have the sport package but has an oil cooler... so check first

Unless you have some reason for not wanting the sport pkg, I would highly recommend getting a car with it....and the oil cooler. Expensive to add one later.

An oil cooler is a good thing to have but unless you drive hard its not really obligatory.
Btw a oem kit is 500$
Or you can diy it(theres a thread in here) to have one for 250$.

An oil cooler is a great mod, but its not necessary for everyone..

There are basically three versions of oil coolers you can have

1) No oil cooler - Fine for tune and lightly modded car that does not see any track events

2) Stock Oil Cooler - Great for tuned cars with full bolt ons that don't see any track events (road course)

3) Stock Oil Cooler + Upgraded Oil Cooler - Great for all cars that do road track events.

1/4 mile does not count as a track event.

Deciding whether you need any of the above is dependant on what your plans for the car is.
