Always having to explain to new passengers that, even though I unlocked the doors when we've arrived, they still have to pull their door handle TWICE to open the door.
They always ask me why.

Already mentioned, but not having an oil dipstick. The electronic gauge is absolute s**t and is like a guessing game.
I hate how expensive everything is just because it has the BMW logo on it... Like really, $100+ for pieces of plastic like a cup holder replacement? (And contrary to most people, I love the e9x cupholders) A small thing, but for people without the option to play music over bluetooth, it's obnoxious. I have to use an AUX cord, and it gets crushed by the arm rest when you close it. There should be a small hole or something to run it through (I've already gone through 2 aux cords in 4 months (9k miles), and about to be on my 3rd). And no, I can't have my phone inside the arm rest, I have to be able to change the song and glance at text messages at stoplights. |

Coding can help your last point. I did it and now I no longer get that blank stare from passengers when they try to get out of the car.

Also, I hate the fact that I can't replace the stock radio without tearing a hole in the space/time continuum. The center door locking is just weird to get used to. For everyone who hates pulling on the handle twice; you know you can program the doors not to lock? I programmed my wife's key to have the doors lock for safety (cause basically; I guess I'm sexist) but I programmed mine to not lock the doors so I don't have to have passengers pulling the handle once and then hitting the window cause the door didn't open.

I hate that a car of this calibre does not come standard with bluetooth connectivity, power seats and other basics etc.

Most of these have already been mentioned, but here is my list:
No split folding rear seats No powered telescoping steering wheel (my E39 had this and it was part of the memory settings. Also, when you opened the door the wheel moved towards the console to give you more room to exit the car. Loved that feature). Lack of 12v power sources (my VW had a bunch, and they were in helpful locations throughout the car) The entire Bluetooth system sucks No coolant temp gauge No dipstick There is no "sweet spot" for the heated seats -- it is either "Is it on?" or "Holy shit it burns!" No jack or spare Batteries that have to be registered I also wish there was a memory setting for the passenger seat and heated rear seats, but that's just wishful thinking Oh, and Jet Black paint SUCKS. It scratches way too easily, and is too soft. I already have water spots and swirl marks all over my freshly painted car, despite my best efforts

Oh yes, I'm glad you reminded me of the battery registration thing.
I have a BT cable, so I should theoretically be able to register it myself, but still.... Don't worry folks, next generation, BMW will have special windshield wipers that will need registration too.

RFT's are what I really hate about it, but that can be changed.
The seatbelt butler could be better but mine barely ever misses. Have peoples got worse over time or have they missed since new? |

That's already have true... @#$% proprietary BS. For what I paid for Valeo replacement wipers which actually look correct, I could have had some silicone ones that would have lasted for years.

1. crappy annoying rubber plastic material around door grips and steering wheel trim that peels easy
2. water pump 3. faint window scratches from rolling windows down... 4. valve cover gasket and their crappy aluminum bolts. thats about it given my 7 years of ownership. surprisingly no rattles or creaking sounds.
