Yellowstone
I had the opportunity to go to Yellowstone this past week for my girlfriend's birthday.
Her father offered his Duramax for our use on the trip but I decided to take the Bimmer instead and began to cross my fingers. To my surprise, the car ran great. It was an absolute blast driving through some of the mountain passes displayed in the pictures below. After 2000 miles of driving, I was decidedly happy that I chose to take the 335 over a huge pickup. We both probably would had gotten sick with all that body roll. If any of you 335i owners haven't had the chance to roadtrip a long distances in your whip, I highly recommend it. The car cruises SO flawlessly over long distances and gets retarded gas millage at a high rate of speed all at the same time (see picture below). A little bit about the trip: Yellowstone is absolutely amazing in a sense that you really don't have to pay to do anything, put aside gas in your car and the entrance fee. We approached our trip with an open mind and simply entered the park with no plans. We ended up enjoying the scenery and getting out at places that looked appealing. The roads in Yellowstone are very accommodating for those who just want to joy ride around and pull off here and there. Once we did find something visually appealing, we usually got out and hiked for a bit. Initially, I thought it was going to be more "Touristy" than it was. In reality, the place is still VERY wild/uncharted, if you will. With that being said, there are some places that are rather touristy. Some of the geyser locations and such were crowded (Old Faithful ect.). For those of you looking for a simple road trip and are in a 1000 mile vicinity, I would highly recommend Yellowstone. Here are a few shots of the E90 as well as a few others. Pretty neat pano shot of some geysers This buck was the closest thing to tame outside of a petting zoo. I was probably 30 yards away from it. Take notice of the predicted range... LOL And finally, the aftermath of 2000 miles of driving. The front side of my car was DESTROYED with bugs. I had a hard time seeing out the last 30 miles. The picture makes it look better than it really was. No worries, shes all clean and fab again. |

Haha, as you all know that is simply projected off your recent fuel consumption.
I genuinely probably averaged close to 40 MPG while in the park. I was on the gas 30% of the time while in the park... FLY down hill (50-70 where I could and it was safe) and just creep up hills.. It was pretty wicked to see that on my fill up just as I exited the park. Quote:
No, nothing really does, seriously.. It was fucking epic driving this thing. "The Ultimate Driving Machine" rang true for me here.. real clear. This car still puts a smile on my face... Even after a few years, just brilliant. JB(Current) now that I am out of warranty? I think so... soonnnn |
