Got 2 "Limp Modes" yesterday.
I had my coilover's installed about a week ago, which is the only real mod thus far. I'm taking this super-fun venice/main st. circle turn when all of a sudden, the engine half-filled-in icon pops up and tells me how I'm going to have reduced power until whatever the f*ck. I turned the car off, restarted and all is well; until I'm in the canyons and the same thing happens. I shut down, restart, and back to normal. If this persists, I will have to take it to my SA.
Anyone else have this happen yet? aaron

I've had my coilover installed 2 weeks after owning the car. 6 months of owning her and over 10,000 miles I've never had a limp mode at all.
Take it in and have them pull the codes. |

KW V2 is great. Worth the $1500 or 1600 they are going for. Very daily driver friendly. The only complaint is the suspension is very hard to work with on the E90. Took us a lot longer than we thought when we put it on. And if you're wondering who helped me...MFQ Motorsports.

I've had a few misc limp modes so I took it in.
They've had it for three weeks!!! They couldn't figure out what it was (not the fuel pump), so BMW NA told them to replace this and that...vanos solenoids and all kindsa ish! So these faults are sometimes hard to pin down even when the computer tells them why. Take it in and get it over with. Because it will most likely do it again and it's such a buzz kill. BTW, they loaned me a 328 (nice, but a different car man) and are paying my lease for the days they've had it (and counting). Good luck. PS, the venice roundabout is always a hoot!!! |

Hey brother, the illest mod to date. Well, besides the debadging and tint, the only mod. It's a new car altogether:rocks: With an LSD...it's over.

I've had this (limp Mode) problem since Sunday afternoon. The half engine light, the check engine soon light, very hard starts after sitting for a few hours, sputtering, knocking, you name it it's happened. Did what little i could. Checked vacuum tubes, read and reset codes, had been using Shell gas which didn't run well in my car. That's when all the problems started. Did a complete fill up with BP which works great in my car but still no love. If i drive on 40mph my car has a shit fit. Taking it in Wednesday morning. I'm not looking forward to this it doesn't sound fun. It's a complete buzz kill.

I dont know if this helps and i'm not sure if this is the exact type of problem but I got the limp mode light to come on when I drove my car from NJ to Cleveland a month ago. It came on several times. Each time i kept on driving and the light went away. I DO have procede and map 1.45. Apparently map 1.47 corrects that problem. It was harmless, i did not notice any power loss or sputtering or whatever. I'm not sure if you guys have procede or not but it might be worth get the diagnostic tool thing to get the codes before taking the car to the dealer. As a side note, the last time I got the limp light to come on after going over 30mph or so was because of a bad sparkplug in cylinder 4. The car had only 800 miles on it!!! my useless 2 cents

No problem... I get limp mode pretty much EVERY time I get on it! WooHoo..... Hey there Mr. Vette... lets race... oh wait... I cant... My car freaks out at about 65 mph and I go into limp mode... sigh.......
map 1.47.... Not overheating... Have oil cooler retrofitted... Shell 91 Oct...Ive loaded the Stock map on Procede and the car runs perfect... I cant get it to go into limp or throw any codes... Load any Procede map and I have limp mode as many times a day as I would like... What a bonus.....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad: |
