Okay to put this thread to rest I have the same exact kit it my car. It's pretty quiet and you can only hear the rattle with the windows open. The rattle changes according to how hot it is and if the A/C is on or off. But you never can hear it with the windows up in idle.

It feels really nice when you shift and again sounds about the same during normal driving. But when you floor it and shift near redline it's pretty loud but it sounds really good. Can't really describe the sound. Maybe more raspy raw sound?

Also I don't think the clutch is stiffer then OEM brand new.

Ah, gotcha, the OEM clutch doesn't have a sprung hub. The valeo kit just moves the torsional damping mechanism from the flywheel to the clutch.

Not sure if I really like that. Now I understand pete's comment about moving the failure prone part from one piece to the other.

sprung hub clutches are extremely common. I'd say a sprung hub clutch probably fails less often than a sprung flywheel.

Anyone have an idea on the size of the clutch plate in this VALEO conversion kit?

Its the same. 240mm.

BMW clutches really only come in 2 sizes - 228 or 240mm.

How has this held up long term? I'm preparing for the inevitable clutch job and I'm really interested in this kit.

I am about 13k miles in. It makes the car more fun to driver definitely. I find my self shifting at 3-3.5k now a lot more. It is very much different, the hook point is different than stock.

I have 335is engine mounts, Rogue engineering trans mounts, AKG Black diff and subframe bushings and i can tell you there is a lot of noise when its warm out, you can hear the trans gears no problem. When i was in colorado in the mountains under 45 degrees it doesnt make noise anymore.

I can see this barely making noise if you have a stock bushings but if you got harder ones be ready for a lot of noise. Mine sounds like a diesel on hot days lol.

If i was to do this again i would spend the extra on a dual mass and get a non adjusting clutch.

Thank you for the update. Do you have brands that you can recommend for non adjusting clutch?

Only one that I know is made by UUC. There might be other options available. I was set on this route from the start thats why I did look into it as much.

I recently installed the valeo 835115 kit and noticed that the clutch engagement point was pretty close to the floor.

I've read conflicting information online about where the engagement point is with this kit, some say high, some say low. I figure this comes down to what clutch fork and throw out bearing is being used (because there are two types), somehow the stack up is different.

I used the throw out bearing for the fork that I have (the single position one, per the instructions in the kit). I noticed when reinstalling the slave that it didn't need to be preloaded as much to get the nuts on as with the dual mass flywheel and as a result the clutch pedal didn't really do much until it got about half way to the floor (I bled the slave to confirm that this is not the issue).

Since I have access to a machine shop and since the piston rod on the slave just pops out, a spun up a rod that is 4mm longer. Since the tip isn't that hard plastic I put some grease on it when I reinstalled. Clutch engagement point feels good now, basically identical to how it was with the stock DMF. I've only driven 200km since the swap, so far clutch works great, much smoother and quieter than my failing DMF.

Just figured I should share this info in case it's useful for anyone.
