*click* when you get off the gas

So.. I hear a mechanical *click* from the rear of the car whenever I let off the gas in first gear... Any ideas what this might be??

So: put the car into 1st.. let off the clutch and drive it to 10km/h and then let off the gas.. *click*.. get on the gas.. let back off.. *click*... doesn't seem to happen in anything other than 1st gear

Thanks

Wonder if it has anything to do with the exhaust valve actuator? (golf tee mod)

I thought it was only the 330's and 335's that can do the golf tee mod?

Either the guibo joint is wearing out or the drive shaft? I hear it too and it's pretty pronounced when I had the rear passenger wheel off the ground and turned it back and forth by hand you can really hear it

Maybe process of elimination to start with....though with components under load sometimes its hard to tell....

start with the wheel off, wiggle everything that you think it could be, including brake lines, exhaust shields, drive shafts, and definitely the struts/shocks/springs...

Rear diff?.....drive shaft? suspension point?...exhaust mount? those are my guesses if nothing else is loose....

Not the shaft itself but the ends I was reffering to.
I always felt like the brakes were sticking too it's weird. I'll have to have someone be in the car and me outside to try and pinpoint the noise

It could be the brake caliper or pad retaining clip...but the caliper bolts dont usually loosen up.....which could cause the noise....

Pad clip might be out of alignment...but kinda doubt it...

If the caliper is not closing on the pad on one side...it could cause a noisy pad condition when the driving forces change........

So it does not happen when you get on the gas...just as you are letting off, right?.....hmmmm

The car does not pull when you brake, does it?.....

I still think its in the suspension....

for me it happens on and off gas. but does not happen after shift. there has to a change in the direction of the force on the drive shaft like engine braking and getting on the gas again.
