Carl - sorry to read about this. Not a big pet person myself, but do appreciate how clever labs are as my ex's parents had a couple who were great dogs. I actually enjoy them much more than i expected. And loved taking them for walks etc.

All the best to you and yours

Carl, as you know I am a BIG animal lover and have been through all this with my pets as have others on here with their beloved pets. Emotional turmoil in many ways!!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to try your utmost to be selfless in these situations and do what is best for Max, even if that means 'letting him go'. I want to say it really does appear that your are managing to behave in such a way, as hard as it is and good on you.

Hard times Carl but one of the downsides of having pets. The many, many positives far outweigh the negatives imo and all those happy times are priceless and no one can ever take those away.

Thanks H!

Picking him up from hospital tomorrow. I Simply
cannot wait! He has been nuked with the old
cheamo and is ok currently. Hopefully we will have some fun weeks left.

I must let you know, the boy ain't old and decrepid. He is a fit healthy
dog. It shouldn't have happened to him. It's definately happened way to early for this gorgeous dog. It's just this fucking tumour giving him these fits
otherwise he is his normal youthful self!

Treat him like a king mate for as long as he is still happy etc

Sorry to hear about the bad luck!

Glad he's coming home Carl and yes I definitely know what you mean about him being healthy but afflicted with the tumour.

My advice would be to treat him just as you always have as that's what he knows and makes him happy. Most animals pick up and sense changes in our behaviour and body language so remain 'normal' lol.

Animals are lucky, they don't suffer with the hang ups we can have over illness and disability, they just get on with life.

Wow, picked him up this afternoon and it was fantastic. He came
in with the vet dude and was so happy to see us. We had a cuddly toy ready for him as he loves them. We walked out of the consultant room and into a packed waiting room
and he was like a kid showing off his new toy. Everyone smiled and laughed. He couldn't wait to get out the door so I took him out whilst my old gel sorted out payment etc

whilst waiting a nurse was finishing her day and came
out and said he was a stunning lab with his
big head a proper lab she called him. Said she saw him everyday
and said he is lovely.

He was so excited to be home and see millie (other lab) and has been
acting like a pup and as if nothing is wrong.

However the drugs and cheamo he needs to take is frightening.

But he and us are all happy now. Fingers crossed we still have lots of time
left.

They did show us the MRI scan. Suffice to say it was not nice.

So glad he is back and so is he! Just I'm sad I had to leave to go home to my own home.

Excellent news!

See, his pleasures in life are so simple............just to be home in familiar surroundings with you and your family and Millie.

Think it's great how he made such an impression with the staff at the vets.

He's home now and he knows nothing about tumours and all that which is good when you think about it.

Pleased for you Carl.

Hi Guys & H,

Thanks for all the support.

I've found this old pic, its from 2003 so they were only 3 years old here.

I will post a more recent pic soon!

Don't know how to make it larger?!

Right an update:

Max had a check up on Monday at the hospital. They were happy with him
and he has had no seizures so far (touch wood) since
be has been on the chemotherapy.

They want to see him in the new year providing everything stays as well
as it is at the moment.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments and kind support.

Really pleased to hear the good news buddy!! Good old Max eh, just shows there's life in the old dog yet, he's obviously a trooper!! Echo the above, spoil him rotten this Xmas!! We always get Archie a doggy Xmas stocking full of treats and toys. Everyone without dogs won't understand it but he's a real part of the family and don't see why he shouldn't get something to open from Santa!!!
