New Oil Colour

Just had first service at 16,400 miles on my 330d. They changed the oil. It was at the local BMW dealer.

I've just pulled the dipstick out after driving about 8 miles since the oil change and the oil looks far too black for my liking.

I know oil can discolour quickly after a change but should it be visibly black on the dipstick after 8 miles. If I spread it thinly on my finger, it seems paler but still not the very pale golden colour I'd associate with new oil.

What do you think.

My 330d oil will look black after only a handful of miles. It's normal in my experience.

I had the same thoughts when mine was serviced it's normal for the oil to go darker quickly.

Satans own soot chuckers just turn the oil to shite in seconds.

The oil in the 335i is clear and golden like amber nectar after 5000 miles!!!

just like to say on this topic, the oil in a derv goes blsck quickly as a small amount of diesel gets into the oil..thus turning it black..on petrol crs this does not happen,on my focus st 225 mk2 its golden after 5k miles.still replace it though

Had mine one at my local dealers last month, my oil wasn't that dirty when it went in, but to be fair it came back quite clear (335d). I'm a fussy customer though so they probably flushed it. They did leave my sump plug loose though...

When I diy change the oil on my E30 diesel it's always black, even after flushing.
