325i engine light on and cut out

Hello Guys. My 325i E90 Msport 82 000 miles young has never missed a beat for 4 years, this morning it stalled on me after less than 1 mile of driving, I restarted it and it was running rough, idle speed all over the shop and engine management light on.
It was still drive-able and would rev up ok so I took it home and parked it.

I have had it fault scanned tonight, and it came up with the following code :
2A98 Sync camshaft to crankshaft value outside range.

The weird thing is it has started up and runs fine tonight, fault code has cleared off and I'm going to test drive it shortly.

Question is what has caused this??
Anyone else had this? Could it be a crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor?
Any help appreciated.

Quick search on here suggests vanos solenoid sticking, suggests removing, cleaning or replacing.
Interesting and annoying since its had regular oil changes with Castrol Edge !

thanks for the video, Yes after writing the panic post I remembered to search on here and found a thread on taking the solenoids out, swapping them over and cleaning them.
So far so good. Fingers crossed, touch wood
