tunit for 335d

not been a fan of tuning/mapping but put a cheap 2nd hand one on my panda the other day and although its no rocket ship it has made it much nicer to drive. so I thought about one for the 335d, don't want a map as like the idea of the box being removable. ive looked at so many boxes and reviews of them but ive decided to try a tunit. I don't want massive power increases and the tunit has 9 settings from 0-9 where 0 is as standard. it comes set on 5 which is 326bhp and 470ftlb, im looking to match the upgraded 335 engine at 313 and 465 so im hoping this will work well. has anyone have a tunit fitted?

My experience with tuning boxes is:
A PS Motorsport one on my old 184bhp E46 330d
A Tunit on my 115bhp Mondeo

The PS unit had a switch on it to errrr switch it on or off, so you could use it at will. Seat of the pants dyno said it made no difference whatsoever, but against the clock it made the car a little less than a seond quicker 0-70mph
I once switched it on whilst at full chat in 4th gear - I felt it come in then!

The Tunit unit was originally fitted to my brother's X-Type 2.2 diesel. Again, the seat of the pants dyno said it made no difference, but, again, against the clock, it was a little quicker.
Fitted to the Mundane-o it made a HUGE difference. Anything over position 6 threw a fault light up, but set at position 5, the bottom and mid-range acceleration were miles better, and the Ford overboost makes driving less tedious than it would otherwise be (it's my daily knacker - 2005, 127k miles, worth nothing but reliable and with lots of toys)

I reckon that with engines that are in a high state of tune (the 330d and the 2.2d X), the differences are not much, but with a cooking engine, you can really feel the increase.

Give it a go if you can get a cheap Tunit - thier after sales is good, and if you want to convert the unit to another car, they do reasonable conversions on an existing unit.
