BMW Performance & ZSP Springs
Since it wasn't clear if the performance springs were the black ZSP springs painted yellow or different ones altogether, I tried to compare the two. However, I was unable to be present when the shop changed the springs and could not compare the two side by side. The Performance Springs are definitely shorter, maybe by 0.5 to 1 inch.
As for the ride, I unfortunately had to rent an F-150 while my car was in the truck, and I just could not tell initially if there was a difference when I got the car back. It felt immensely better after driving the F-150 boat and it was difficult to compare with how it was before the suspension change. After 600 miles, I am inclined to agree with Mr.5's review. I think my car is slightly lower but I will try to take representative photos and post them. So, here are the photos of the springs:

Please keep us posted with pix. If you can give us numbers on how much it lowered your car on both ends, if any, that would be great too. I'm thinking the performance springs may be shorter b/c it is stiffer.
I have the base suspension springs right now and the E90 Aftermarket Suspension Guide says the ZSP lowers it about .6". If the performance springs does lower it more from the ZSP springs than I can potentially lower my car to about 1" with the performance springs? I asked Jason from Tisher but he was unable to give me with a definitive answer. |

Excellent. They clearly are not identical. Remind us what the cost of the performance springs is. Did you install the performance dampers at the same time?
I wish we could get lightweight titanium springs.

Wow man!
What a difference. What I'd like to know is if the spring rates are the same.

Are these the performance springs for the 135?
If they are for the 335, where did you order them from?

I got them from Tischer. the springs were ~$85 each. but BMW of gwinnet in Atlanta have a better price (for the suspension kit also).
I had the suspension kit, which includes the dampers, and the springs installed. The car does look slightly lowered but I cannot quantify by how much. I was very short of time with my schedule and was unable to take good 'standardized' before and after pictures. I am trying to get photos that can be compared with older photos of the car, and will post them here. As for the spring rates, I have no clue. The guy who did the installation thought these were stiffer, if that means anything useful. Edit: before (black window trim) and after (chrome trim) pictures. these were taken at different locations at slightly different angles, and i am not sure if i see any difference in height at all.

btw, after the installation, after about 400 miles i got a warning light to have the brakes checked. the SA initially thought it was because of worn brake pads, but it turned out to be damaged break sensors. I had to pay ~$90 because i couldn't provide the receipt for the initial installation (done at a different place). It wasn't covered by the maintenance warranty as I couldn't prove the installation was done at a BMW dealership. anyway, anyone else have problems with brake sensors after changing the shocks/springs? my car didn't develop this issue till ~400 miles after the suspension work.

How long have those springs been on for? I wonder if they are going to settle.
I wonder if BMW allows you to just purchase the springs without voiding the other suspension components when it comes to the warranty. |

I do hear the squeaking/whistling noise occasionally from 0-20mph but it is not new. in any case, the break pads were not worn. I don't know if there is any fix for the squeaking noise but it doesn't seem to cause any damage, so I am okay with it. I don't want to go to a dealership unless I absolutely have to.

The springs have been on for 600 miles now. I purchased the BMW Performance suspension and springs, so there shouldn't be any issues with warranty. My SA's concern was with warranty for the installation labor. I did not have the receipt from a BMW dealership to prove that the installation labor can be covered under the warranty.

Any more info to share? have the springs settled in at all? What are your thoughts on the suspension, now that you have been driving on it for a while?
Thanks Jeller |

I did had to take off the bracket that held the sensors. The sensors and the headlight leveling system for the Xenons are all connected to the suspension components.

the car is running without any problems now. It is about 1500miles out from the suspension change. It is 'stiffer'; the jolts on the road are more profoundly felt. at the same time, it does handle corners much better. The car stays distinctly more level and stable during turns. I wasn't sure initially, but the car is certainly lower too.
I haven't driven a car that has a stiffer suspension so far and so my experience is limited. but if you don't mind the ride quality on bad roads, this is a very worthwhile upgrade. I would recommend it as you can still keep your warranty intact.

Cool. $86 x 4 = $344
+ $560 for Perf dampers - whatever you can get for ZSP + labor = $ 1k + M3 suspension bits (front tension rods, wishbones, & rear subframe bushings) + 14mm Msport rear sway = $ 2k + more labor = $2.5k total I wish we could get this in a ZHP package!

I just ordered the kit with springs I will hopefully have it by the end of next week. I can't do a height comparison as my car is already lowered.

Cause I cant adjust them, or at least dont feel like I have them adjusted ideally. Sometimes I think the sides are different, or the front/rear isnt set up right. At least with BMW, I know that its just how BMW thinks is ideal.
