The wheel and tire insurance is probably one of the extras you should pickup, especially if you have the sport package and if the roads where you drive are crappy.
If you hit a pothole and jack up a wheel and tire it would easily set you back $800+

The price for the policy is negotiable. Some on here have gotten a really good price while others have been ripped off. Do a search and see what others have paid. I paid $599 for a 3 year plan but probably could have haggled that price down more or got the 4 year for that price.

If you intend on keeping your stock wheels and tires, then perhaps you should consider it, although my dealer was set on charging $800 and I just flat out said no. But for all the problems and issues that the RFTs provide, I say it's not worth it.

You may pay more for getting a new set of wheels and a stickier set of tires, but to drive a better looking car with better wheels I say is worth it.

When negotiating your price, don't give the finance guy any hint about how much you want this car. Keep him thinking that you are OK with walking away from it at any time. Once they smell that excitement, once they know you really want it, the salesman goes to work. If they really want to sell a car they will meet you with fair terms you can live with.

I agree with purchasing tire/wheel insurance for both of these reasons. Just make sure it is tire AND wheel coverage. My coverage was $700 for 5 years and it covers all damage to wheels and tire damage as long as there is at least 3/32nds tread on your tires.
Also it covers all wheels and tires stock or aftermarket no matter how many sets you go through for 5 years....

I had a tire replaced within 2 months of purchasing my car. So $432 bucks of my $700 investment has already paid for itself...

If you are buying, finance through your bank or credit union and not the dealer. Negotiate from invoice price (find it on Edmunds.com) and go up from there, rather than going down from MSRP. If you have a trade-in, know the value before you go in, and don't bring up the subject until you have settled on a price for the car.

On my last Bimmer, I stayed w/ RFTs and was glad I had the tire insurance when the dealer replaced one of those very expensive tires (after I found a nail in the side wall) free of charge. This time around, I just sold the RFTs and got real tires, so, no insurance.

+1 on tire package.........if you're getting a 3 series sedan or coupe, fill out the credit app and get it submitted before the end of the month and the rate is locked until the end of April 3.9 on 328's 4.9 on 335's
