Anyone mixing with E100 instead of E85?

So I assume E100 is just a higher octane version of E85? I'm new to this stuff and while filling up on 93 octane & E85 (~60/40 mix), I noticed this E100 labeled as "race fuel" for $3.09/gal.

Anyone have experience with this in their N54, or is this something to stay away from? Just curious, thanks in advance for your help.

I run E85 also I want to know about this also...I assume you would have to lower the mix but map 5 maxes out at 17 psi and I hit that with E85 so this may be suited more for a custom map 6 or map 7.

You would probably just need less of a % mix to regular pump then using E85 since its 100% ethanol compared to E85 that has 15% regular pump in it.

Map 5 peaks 17 if all is right, but tapers off to 12psi by redline from what ive seen.

Map 5 is target at 17 psi max with a boost safety of 17 psi but is suggest to raise boost safety to 18 psi I have hit 18-20 on spikes.

Never even heard of E100, then again I've only seen E85 once and it's like ~20 miles from where I live

On a 45/55% E85/94 Oct mix, I see 17 psi midrange target all the time (well in all my logs anyway), and it tapers to somewhere between 13.5-13.8 psi at 6800-6900 rpm. With safety at 18 psi highest spike I've seen so far in a log is 17.3 but I think it's been a bit higher than that a few times when I haven't been logging.

Timing is perfect, never drops below 11 and hit ~13.5-14 at redline. Can't wait to try out the RB's (going in on monday) with this E85 mix (which btw I have to not only drive 20 miles but also across a toll bridge to get)....

OP, give E100 a try, start at 20%-30% and log.. It obv will have the effect of E85 but better in higher concentration of ethanol.

OT:
Here is a reference from what im seeing... with about a 35% mix. FBO+93 octane. Have yet to change the safet any higher then the default.
Peak 17, sustain 16psi/15psi, and taper to 13.5 by reline.

lol i feel you i travel 20miles each way aswell but no tolls, i fill ma tank with E85 and two 5 gallons tanks in the trunk to store away.

Just Google'd it: E85 has a RON of ~105 while E100 (which is used in NASCAR & professional racing) has a RON of ~129. Pump Gas Octane (PON) is about 5 octane points lower, so E85 is about 100 (Race Gas) & E100 is about 125.

I have had friends push me to try it but I haven't yet. It's a hr drive to get it that I know of. A friend with a gti drove in front of me once using e100 and I thought something had come loose in my car because the smell of the e100 was so strong lol! He loves the stuff!!

Wow, wonder how the DME would cope with 100% E100....

And then there's the question where to get it. I have never seen it anywhere, but it would be cool

Google it -- There are a couple of vendors that sell drums of different variations of ethanol based fuel. It's already difficult enough to find E85 out of a pump, so I can't imagine how rare it is to come across a station with E100

The station is called RS Fuel (Phillips 66) and it opened in April of last year. They call themselves a "fueling superstore". They've got quite a few different octanes of gas, and CNG. It is a very nice and clean place... feels like an upscale gas station, if there is such a thing. Even better, it's right on my way to and from work!

I buy E98 by the drum...its a pretty simple purchase/delivery and is always the perfect consistency/makeup. One thing that bothers me about E85 is you never know exactly what you're putting in your tank, unless you have a local shop with an analyzer, or better yet- having an analyzer in your car that feeds info to your tune

FYI- a 55 gallon drum of E98 is ~$220 delivered.
