One more for the Alpina Trans Flash!

First thing I looked for when I grabbed the car in January was a flash for the trans, nothing and then thanks to cn555ic I came across the Alpina Flash. This was a decent bit of work to setup as I had...

1. Never played with coding before
2. Was doing this on a Mac

The first part was setting up bootcamp, then I had to dig up INPA, WINKFP, SP DATEN, etc. It took another day or so of work to get everything to actually communicate properly. Home sick today I thought I'd give INPA a go again, once I was able to read my car we were on! I had imported all of the Daten files already so off I go. Man was it easy, I was sweating bullets the whole time trying to decide how I would explain to my wife I bricked my car...

Nope. Less than 10 minutes and I was done. The improvement is enormous, I really can't express how much better it feels. Shifts are quick and smooth with no lag or slip. Just amazing. If you can setup INPA & WINKFP the actual flash is beyond simple.

I had my charger on but I always use that if I am playing with the electronics.

Got your PM and I wish I had an easy answer. There are two steps.

1. Setting up INPA, installing the drivers and confirming it works with your car. Without INPA you can't connect to the car. Use BMW tools and this will also install Winkfp, NCS Expert etc. I had to run the updates on mine for everything to work.

2. Populating winkfp with the Daten files. Just google this and play with it. I had a lot of issues at first with it not pulling in all of the data. Found that if I pull in the data manually it helped.

Good luck man. The flash is stupid easy to do, like beyond easy. It's all the prep work that takes time. Remember to use the correct COM port, set latency to 1 sec and I had to adjust my rate to 2084 for it to work.

I was told you'll throw some codes with the Alpina trans flash. Is that true?

No codes here but I am one of probably hundreds by now who has done this. I was just happy I managed to solve it myself.

Drive in to the office this morning...
