There is motorwerks in commerce township, Steve's European automotive in Waterford. Both know bmw's well and aren't as bad as the dealer for repairs.

Running your car that long overheating could definitely cause head damage. I wouldn't risk the 4 hour drive home.

If I wasn't working today I would be able to do it as long as you had the parts. I just did it on mine and it was pretty easy. Just time consuming

I've been very careful to shut off the car as soon as I get the red light but I don't know if I can limp it home 4 hours. I haven't lost heat and I keep it full blast while driving. It is fine as long as I keep it under 2k but it's 70mph all the way home, so it's almost impossible to keep it that low. What should I do?

Anyone know a good quick indy? I'd really like to do it myself to save labor if possible.
Hmm. I'd flat bed it honestly. Unless you're going to be staying a while.

Did it right in the hotel parking lot. Dad drove up from Ohio, picked up a wp at a dealership on the way and we knocked it out in about 3.5 hours. Thanks for the help and offer!

I still despise Michigan

Guys, thinking about trying to assemble a walnut blast group event for us in Michigan with a vendor I found that does it in Ohio. Going to see if I can't get them to come up for a day to do it. Please reply if you are interested... anyone with a 335 should definitely be IMO.

Update:

Shop is on board, I need 4 more at minimum to make it happen. Will be solid pricing. If we can get 10, will be even better. Once I get the official list from them I will created a new thread and link to it. They will also be able to do oil filter housing gaskets at a reduced rate.

Currently reaching out to find a small shop ideally with an air compressor to rent/use for the weekend. If you know of one in the Metro Detroit area please PM me.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA FOR ANY 135 or 335 owners!
