I thought about it and decided whatever minor performance I may gain will never justify the cost for me. This setup has 100% eliminated any understeer I was able to get before. Like flooring it going left onto a freeway on-ramp. Used to understeer like crazy, totally gone now!

Edit: I can now get the car to OVERSTEER on a dry road, with traction control 100% ON, and new Y grade tires...
And Yes it's an Xi and No i dont have a LSD lol

I dont track the car and it's my sole vehicle and DD so I dont think I push it hard enough on the street to need the M bushings and rear sway. If I had endless $ to throw at it would be one thing, but unfortunately that's not the case LOL

Now if I keep this baby forever and end up making it a track car.....

Yea I totally understand. My best friend for the last 20 years is a mechanic and a BMW driver/enthusiast so he does all upgrades with me at his shop free of charge. So I just have to pay for parts(which is still expensive) If I didn't have him I would either not have half the upgrades or I would be divorced since my wife would leave me due to my ridiculous spending.

I have 2008xi coupe and thinking about using this setup. Do you still like your suspension setup? Will this setup with 19" non-runflats be more harsh on potholes and bumps compared to the OEM suspension with runflats? Thanks!

Very encouraging thread. I have an 11 e91 and have been thinking of springs and shocks since the day I drove it home from the dealer.

I wonder if the 92's have different top hats from the 90's and 91's?

I never ran runflats (had the dealer remove them for the rubber I bought upon delivery), so it's hard for me to specifically answer your question..

The ride is a bit harsher than stock was for me, apples to apples (same wheel/tire setup). That said, it's so dramatically improved my braking and cornering, I would never consider going back.

I run 19" wheels in the summer, and as long as I'm watching for major potholes, it's fine. I'd say it passes the WAF test, but not with flying colors. Admittedly, there are a couple roads I avoid, that are totally trashed, but generally, I'm mostly just watching for sunken manholes and big potholes.

I love the setup.

As I've noted elsewhere in the thread, there is a very slight difference between the front and rear. maybe 1/2." It's pretty much imperceptible unless you stare at it.

it just seems weird to me, some seem to be able to get it sitting evenly and then others are setup like how yours is. which confuses me; i looked at all the other reviews posted on this thread and others. However, you did sell it along with many other testimonies here, just wasnt to fond of that front.

I can see no noticeable difference front to rear. It was way worse when I had the H&R springs. The Eibachs are perfect.

Here are some pics of my car with 3 different wheels sets I have had over the past 2 years to compare the wheel gap from my Bilstein/Eibach setup. I think the sedan has more front gap than the coupe.

When used with the Eibach Pro Kit, the Bilstein Sports do NOT require modifying or different bump stops correct?

Koni yellows require the E36 M3 bump stops and either the Z4M or cutting of the originals.

Do I have that right?

I had a blown front shock about a month ago and decided to replace both front shocks with Bilstein HD's and tophats, as I did not care about lowering and just wanted improved ride while mainting comfort. The HD's are a tad firmer than stock but overall the ride now is wonderful! Only problem is, my front end has a huge gap above the tires! I can fit 4 fingers in there! (haha) The gap looks terrible. I think with the new shocks coupled with the new tophats really raised my car. The old tophats' rubber was really flat.

So... now i have to get rid of this gap and will be installing the Eibach pro springs (on the front only) on my Bilstien HD's. I know the bilstein sports are recommeded but I just installed the HD's and don't want to sell them and then repurchase new bilstein sports... at least not yet.

I want to see how this feels with the HD's and will keep everyone updated. I will be replacing the rear shocks in a month and putting the eibach pro springs on the rear then. The question now is, should I buy rear bilstein sports or HD's?

And yea, I realize this is turning into a mess. Just didn't realize how high the XI sits when it has new shocks and tophats.

Your struts should not have affected your front end height. The tophats will and they take months, if not years to settle. Why did you replace your tophats? Can you put the old ones back on?
