te37's vs VMR 701's

I'm in a delema, I love my 701s but they need to be refinished badly, I just stumbled apon a set of te37 reps with good specs and tires for $1400. So what do u guys think should I get my wheels refinished and get some spacers or just get new wheels? I've been wanting a set of te37's since I got my car so this decision is killing me

Definitely change the wheels. I tried to be happy with adding spacers, but ended up ordering new setup.

Just saw a thread about fitment, will these fit with minimal work?

Jonnylin's setup

Quote:
Currently on Varrstoen ESs:
19x9.5 +20 with Conti DWS 225/35/19s
19x11 +25 with Conti DWS 265/30/19s
Front camber around -1.3 (alignment pin removed) and rear camber around -3.00
Your rear would extend 3mm less and with narrower tyre, but also slightly narrower wheel, so stretch isn't as big. Do you have coilovers? If not i would suggest getting those, because it will be stiffer and help to prevent rubbing.

My setup will also be Te37 reps, but 18 inch and i also ordered Bc racing Br coilovers so i can adjust my suspension.

So your saying im going to rub a bit? ill probably get my fenders rolled once i get my wheels on. I'm on springs right now, but within the next two months I'm going to be order a set of coilovers to replace them.

Without fender roll for sure it will rub at rear. Even with fender roll it might rub, but little bit camber should stop that.

At first I thought the debate was authentic Rays vs VMR...I was like "OP cannot be serious here" lol. But even with reps, def. go with the TE37 style. Could be my favorite wheel style of all time, just gorgeous when done right. Good choice man

TE37 reps? Really? I'd rather stick with VMR 701s than rock some TE37 reps. You'll get the look, but not even taking advantage of the weight savings from being forged. Like P Casey said, save up and get the real deal. Don't waste your time, just refinish and call it a day.

Is this a joke? Clearly he doesn't care about the weight savings, just the cosmetic aspect. It's not a "waste of time" if he wants the look without the hefty price tag.

do you realize that varrstoen te37 reps and vmr 701s probably weigh just about the same lol. So op probably doesn't care too much about weight savings

why even 701's look fine for what they are. makes no sense to go from cast to cast. if all it were for looks, then by all means enjoy, but i doubt you'll be satified at the end of the day and you'll eventually get proper te37's down the line, at this point, just tossing money in the air. enjoy.

At this time I really can't justify buying a set of wheels for 4k that I'm going to be putting on my daily. Besides the fact that I'd be saving up for 6 months to get a real set of volks I also wouldn't be able to put any money into my car or live the lifestyle that I want right now lol, and the first time I curbed on of them I'd probably break down and start crying right then and there.

Get the reps then if this is how you feel. It is almost a given at some point down the line something will happen. Once you are comfortable w/spending the cash for the 'real deal' you wont blink an eye if you curb them, you'll probably just want to replace them.

I dunno, I guess I'm the only one but 10-spoke wheels look great on the E9x. I say hands down the 701's. te37's are a big snoozer for me.
