Zion National Park (GoPro Vid)
I'm new to the whole video thing, so bare with me. This is my second video I've attempted to edit using my GoPros and software. It was kinda a rush job since I had about 45 mins of footage to skim through and got impatient. To the pro's, please leave some pointers. I'm trying to master the art before moving on to title screens and captions. On this vid, I wanted to capture/focus on the landscape.
Questions to the GoPro guru's... 1. What resolution do most of you use? 2. Where's the best mounting point? (I know it's mostly preference) 3. For those with the external mic, how did you run the cable? 4. Transitioning pointers? 5. Sound editing tips? (Wind noise is a killer )

Nice video. Made that drive a few years ago, but it was in a Chrystler 300 rental.. It's a beautiful part of the country. Don't have a gopro yet nor do I do any editing, so can't help ya there.
This was a shot driving up from from the canyon heading toward Kanab UT where we stayed a while before heading over to Zion . Pretty wild to see nothing but rocky canyons and a black stripe as far as you can see.

I mostly keep my go pro on 720p at 60fps since it'll look smoother than 30fps while mounted on something moving fast. I have the gopro hero 1 so I can't add an external mic so I just tape a piece of sponge or foam over the mic and it works wonders. If you have the external mic option I'd go that route with a noise/wind cancelling one off amazon.

The front/side shots were done with a GoPro Hero 3, the back cam was a GoPro Hero (original). The editing part was tough since I'm new to editing, impatient, and had to skim through about a hour of footage. I think it came out alright though. Quote:
No prob!

Nice video man. I try to get to Zions National Park a few times per year. It makes for a nice cruise and the back roads before/after are quiet, especially on a Sunday evening.
