Market for used RFTs?
I need to replace my rear tires on my 2011 e93 at 16k miles, but of course the fronts are not in need of replacing...probably half worn, I would have to measure.
I am going to change all 4 to non-RFTs Michelins PSS is there a market for these half worn RFTs? Should I ask for the front tires to take home? worth my time? These are 225/35/19 Pirelli P-Zero...the latest TireRack price new is $326/tire. Thanks! Jim |

As a followup, I see a set of exactly these tires on ebay with 60% tread left, per the description, for $170 free shipping.
Any idea how much it is per tire to ship typically? Can't you just wrap the tires with clear wrap and slap on the shipping label? e.g. no box? Just trying to do an ROI here...if the shipping is $30/tire...so that would net me at the most $100 for the trouble of taking home, listing, shipping etc. |

There is a small market for used tires, but best for people turning in lease cars and don't want to buy an all new tire. I have some used OEM tires that I took off. I'm trying to sell them, and as people comment they may need tires, I offer them. Shipping is expensive, at least $30 per tire, and can get higher if going a longer distance (I was quoted $50 per tires for UPS ground from Detroit to LA, needless to say, the buyer found tires local, and I don't blame him).

Ebay is probably the best best IMO as the market is huge compared to other online markets for used goods.

we have a used tire place in Tampa. They seem to be oversupplied with rft. A typical post might be $120 for a pair with 50% left, including install and balance.

I am going to forget it.
Gary, just ordered a set of 4 PSS from Tire Rack. Great price @ $1200 delivered to my local NTB. This store has awesome service with a road force balancer, but they could not even get close to your pricing. They had to call Michelin and pay the shipping themselves to get the tires. Out the door pricing was $1417. I expect the install to be $100-120...so I will save $100. Basically an alignment. These are 225/35/19, 255/30/19 thx |

When I replaced my runflats with "real tires", I listed the old ones here in the for sale section, and on my local Craigslist. Got inquiries from both within a few days, gone after about a week.
Somebody is always looking for runflats with legal tread depth for a BMW lease return. |
